Tuesday Ramblings

Cubes of Jarlsburg and Provolone for your snacking pleasure. The provolone is my way of spoiling Carey.

I think I'll make a LIST!

1. E-Bay
My random stuff (a funky curling iron, pieces of lia sophia jewelry, a mini loaf pan, etc) is netting me about $100. I have more to list this week. I didn't want too many auctions running at once. Chris put some items up. Mostly new and used photography lighting stuff that was given to us years ago by step-MIL. She's an artist and used it long ago, but not anymore. It was basically dusty stuff in a big box. Chris cleaned it up, put it on e-bay and we'll make at least $175 off it. More likely $250.

2. Taxes
I know, the theory is you shouldn't use the gov't as a your savings account. We should be happy with our $500 Federal return. However, I get jealous of those people that get thousands of dollars. And I'm not having children to get more money back.

3. Bedroom Furniture
I haven't had a bedroom set since the veneer set I had as a teen. Our matresses are on the floor. We really need to bite the big one this year and get something. Maybe once our big tv purchase is paid off at the furniture store (December) and another 0% interest thing comes along there. Sigh.

4. Class
My calculus class is going well. It's only day 2. :-) Check back in a month and we'll see my state of mind.

5. Breakfast for Dinner
I made a fritatta last night for dinner. Breakfast for dinner rocks. Due to dieting, I should've left out the hashbrowns. But I was good the rest of the day, so I didn't. If it were just for me, I would've made them from sweet potatoes, but Chris doesn't like sweet potatoes. *sigh*

6. Jogging
I still need to get fancy shoes. However, the small tax return isn't helping that. With our tax return we also need to get our passports. Not cheap. I need breathing help. Boo in training? Monsty? Who was our other runner? Zombie? When I have my mouth closed, I'm good. When I go to open mouth breathing later in the run, I feel like I'm not taking enough air all the way into my lungs. It kind of stops in the back of my mouth and then I breathe out. I have to imagine there is a more effective way of breathing when you are running. Also, at what speed are you "running" rather than "jogging"?

Kim, you CAN get thousands of dollars back on your federal income tax return. Just insist they withhold more! Hey, if they take another $250 a month out of each of your salaries, then you'll get back $6K!

I don't think there's a speed that takes you from jogging to running. It's more a state of mind. Jogging is a lesisurely activitiy you do to get fresh air. Running is serious and runners are worried more about their fitness and their times than joggers.

Yeah, yeah, but again, I don't want to use the gov't as a savings account. I think I just need to win the lottery. I'd be happy to give the gov't their piece of that.

I like your definition. I'm a runner. :-)

I'm a slow runner :)

You have to practice your breathing. In through the nose and out the mouth.

Our band director would make us do this exercise. Take a deep breath in, then without exhaling, breathe in again, and then if you can, do it again.
It's harder than it sounds. All you need with the breathing is practice.

Oh, I'm certain I don't have a clue about how to breathe when I run. The funny thing is that I'm really not tired in the out-of-breath sort of way, I just ache. I don't know why, but I have to stop because things hurt. I think it's just that my ankles can't handle the pounding from all of my fat.

I'm going to a shoe clinic sometime this week or next to get shoes.

Taxes: I get that lecture from people all the time about getting a refund. The truth is it's kind of hard to tell what Michael will make since he works on commission, so he has to claim 0. We also get a refund because of his tools, uniforms, etc.

I like the idea of getting money back. If I get it during the year, I spend it on stupid stuff. But a refund means something big.

My first fatigue signal while jogging/running? I get a side ache around 3/4 mile. Even if I wait three hours after eating and have enough water.

I remember calculus. I accidently wound up in a class with a bunch of engineering hopefuls but I didn't feel really stupid until about week three.

We always pay - no refund. Tom's and my income is pretty predictable and he does not want the Feds to sit on one penney of our money. Money is supposed to grow, not sit.

Hey Deb, I could take three deep breaths! Third one was more shallow and it kinda hurt but I could do it. I'm still not going to jog though, my knees always hurt.

Calculus. *shudder* That was the only D I have ever gotten in my life. In my defense, I had never taken any pre-calc in high school and then they threw me into full blown calc in college. Not fun.

I just think I shouldn't visit your blog when I'm hungry. It's a very bad idea.

1. Yay for money from eBay!

2. We usually get money back now that I'm not working. Of course, it's not as if we can just go out and low it all on something frivolous, but maybe this year it's time for us to also spring for...

3. ...a new bed. Ours is getting uncomfortable and DH has been complaining about his back for a couple months now.

4. I had to take calculus twice in high school. The first time I sat behind a nice girl from Taiwan who did all her work in pen and never made a mistake. Because that's the way they do it in Taiwan.

5. It must be hard for you, being a good cook and trying to watch your calories.

6. Jogging sounds less exhausting.

You're making me want to sell some stuff on ebay! I have lots of books and knick knacks.

*quickly jogs out of blog*
