My favorite things

I was thinking of Christmas gifts. A little early, I know. Would it be cheesy to give friends and relatives a grouping of my "favorite things" from this year, a la Oprah (well, a cheapskate Oprah)? How would you feel if you got something like that? Should the gift be more about things the person has expressed they'd like?

I'd like to receive something like that, as I'm all about trying new things. But maybe I'm weird.

Sangria or Margarita?
I actually don't drink margaritas, but I love me some sangria. I bought some sangria slush mix from Tastefully Simple. It's a little sweet for me, so I top it off with more red wine. Yummmmmm!

Pork BBQ Ribs or Beef BBQ ribs?
Pork was the only correct answer. :-) I must make the prize for the rib cookoff this week.

Bike or Jog?
I intended to dust off the bike this weekend, but instead we worked our arases off yesterday around the house.

Attend a Bridal Shower or Attend a Baby Shower?
Went to a bridal shower this weekend. It was ok. Fancy schmancy lunch that was tasty. It was for Chris's cousin's fiance. I went because we never see that side of the family and don't think we'll be going to the wedding.

Documentary flick or Newest Comedy?
I want to go see Morgan Spurlock's "Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?"

Weekend Breakfast out or Breakfast in?
We FINALLY went to this granola cafe in town for breakfast and it was awesome! $15 for two big entrees and fancy coffee. They have cheese curd scrambles, such a Wisconsin thing! I want to go back and try their cinnamon roll french toast.

1 Drink with Dragonflies or More Drinks with Dragonflies?
Due to my desire to hit LUSH and my short time period, the only drink we had was a soda (well, she had iced tea). We met at the mall. There were pictures taken and LUSH and in a photo booth. *giggle* And? Her newly highlighted hair looked great.

Peep Meet & Swanky digs

Ok, so really, there's just one. I had to cancel my Puffy meet because the conference peeps in San Diego booked us for additional days. However, I'm going to meet up with dragonflies this weekend. Yay! It's a shame we don't see eachother more often, with us living so relatively close.

Weekend recap

There were ups and downs this weekend.

1) Saturday was fun. We hit breweries and such in the central Wisconsin area (Steven's Point is the only town you MIGHT recognize from there, but I highly doubt it). It was a very fun time. Here's a picture of Chris, me and and our friend Mark at O'so brewery and brewing supply (Breezy: Mark and his wife may come with on our Michigan brew tour this summer, so you might meet them).

2) Sunday I did a lot of those pesky cleaning projects. I took down all the decor on top of my kitchen cabinets, cleaned it off and orange-cleaned all the kitchen cabinetry. Then I cleaned the basement. It felt good to get those things done.

3) Decking. $2000 for the deck, $2000 for the railing. WTF? So I think we are doing the decking and just using treated lumber for the railing for now. We can paint it to match the deck and maybe in a few years we'll put the matching railing up. $2000 for effing rails just doesn't sit well with me. I'm very iritated about it.

Crazy Friday

I'm so craving an omelet, so throw some cheese in and eat with me.

I don't have anything exciting to say, just felt like I should update. So you get three randoms from me.

• I'm reading She's Come Undone right now. What a good book thus far.
• Annual physical exams take a lot of preparation. Just sayin'.
• I'm craving an orange right now.

Misc.

• For three years I have wanted a coconut cake for my birthday. I was going to make myself one this year. Then I got sick.
• The rib cookoff is in a month. I must make plans
• We are re-building our deck this month. We never did much with it (it doesn't even have rails) because we knew we wanted a patio and firepit and didn't know how the deck would tie in. Now that we've decided, we are auditioning decking materials and drawing up plans. My dad is coming tomorrow to consult.
• Yoplait Light is my new favorite yogurt.
• I have all the songs for the bloggy cd downloaded. Now I just have to burn the cds.
• I'm happy. Sick. But happy.

One of my most detested lines

We all know these people. Some of you might have been, or are, one of these people.

"Drama follows me, I swear."

1. People that exclaim that tend to be the same people that are on their cell phones and gabbing 24/7. Maybe drama follows you because you can't stop talking about anything for more than 30 seconds.

2. People that exclaim this seem to be attention seekers. You know, they constantly have to have 2o friends surrounding them, dancing all night and letting all their dance partners feel them up, etc.

3. And they are clueless. I know peeps from points 1 & 2 that KNOW they have behaviors that can create drama. The ones that annoy me are the peeps that always try to blame someone else for the drama.

Weekend Getaways

Summer....it turns me upside down. Summer, summer, summer. It's like a merry-go-round...The Cars

Hashbrown casserole today! I made a low fat version last night with lots of cauliflower mixed in, so I didn't feel so starch heavy. It was yummy. I used my food processor to shred a hunk of low fat cheddar *waves at Swami*. I just think freshly shredded tastes better than the bags.

I'm planning three getaways from June through October (yeah, I know, that encompases more than summer):
Southern/mid Michigan brewery escapade
Stillwater, MN and the Twin Cities for shopping, drinking and cooking class
Kansas City, MO for BBQ highlights

All trips will also include attempts to find general kitsch (yes, that included Breezy and Swami). *snort*
