My sister finally got up enough courage to get a restraining order against her soon-to-be ex. She filed it yesterday & got a temporary r.o. The police attempted to serve him yesterday, but he wasn't home. So they left a note on the door saying to contact them. Assmonkey found this note around 1 a.m. & proceded to call and go over to my sister's house, screaming at her from the door, trying to get. She called the police. They put him in jail for the night, but because he hadn't been served yet and thus didn't violate anything, he was out early this morning. Luckily they served him while IN jail, but now I fully expect him to flip his lid in the next 24 hours.
He's been threatening suicide for the last 17 years...increasingly so since she kicked him out a few months ago. Frankly, I'd be thrilled to hear he went home & did it. He's a lost cause that is ruining everyone else's life with his.
Sorry if that makes me a bad person.

Hope everything works out for her! And no, it doesn't make you a bad person. How could anyone who offers up cheese with every entry be a BAD person. Sheesh!
He called her cell 30 times since he got out this morning. Half were threatening calls, half were "I love you, let's get back together" calls. He's so nuts & so manipulative. She didn't call the cops re: the harassing phone calls. I gave her a 20 minute pep talk. We'll see what happens.
If you are a bad person, I was too. I was so sick of my ex threatening to kill himself that I wished he would do it, too.
He didn't, naturally. Still alive to this day.

One of my sister's ex husbands used to threaten to kill himself all the time too, but it was just an attempt to control her. The only person he was in ever in danger of killing was my sister. Tell your sister to be careful!
He called & gave her the whole "If I can't have you nobody can" thing this afternoon (don't ask why she even answered the phone). She called the cops. He's back in jail. YAAAAAYY!
Tomorrow night Chris and I are going over to safety inspect her house and help her set up escape plans for every situation.
Good for her! Maybe she really is in control of it this time.
I'm so glad she called the cops after the direct threat. I've never been threatened except by punk kids. Everytime he contacts her is a threat and against the restraining order.

This is just how crazy some people can be. When I was heartbroken I wanted to die but I never threatened anyone.

I really do hope your sister is able to find strength to keep him away. Such a horrible situation. You're a good sister to continue to support her and help her out.

FWIW, i don't think it makes you a bad person. i think it makes you realistic. sometimes the world would probably be better off without certain people. and if they want to remove themselves, hey, who are we to stand in their way?
just don't hand him any instrument to help him out, no matter how tempting that might be. cuz then you're in trouble. and we need you to be not in trouble.
How is your sister doing?
Holy moley! Thank goodness she is finally taking a stand here! Be there for her. It helps to keep her strong, I'm sure!
