A bit of good news

Meunster today, one of my very favorites. Good meunster is hard to find, ya know. The salty, slightly sqeaky kind is best.

I'll be heading to Dallas in November (16-20th). Staying at the Adam's Mark for a conference. I've never been to Texas, so I'm quite excited. Sonya, aren't you near Dallas? Momma, where in Texas are you? Maybe I can come a day early & sneak in a peep meet! Any other ladies or gents in TX (I know PRE & Boner are)?

I'm like 10-15 minutes from that hotel. So a definite peep meet in in order. I can email momma. We have been friends for year. She is about 45-1 hour away. I'm so excited.

Yay! *happy dance* Now I can be excited to see Texas AND to see Sonya and momma! Not to mention it's waaaay warmer in Texas in Nov. than it is in WI. :-)

And Bob, could you keep it down with the cheese over there?

I'm about 30-45 minutes further east than Sonya, so I may be able to work that out!

Never had muenster. Well, that I know of. Maybe it was hiding on a cheese tray once and I had some without knowing.

Anyway. Lucky you! A trip to Texas!

Momma, this may be the only time in my life I go to Texas, so I vote you MUST figure it out. :-)

Oooh, Seana. It's the white cheese with the orange checkerboard rind on it. Of course now most places have fake rinds.

So what are you coming to Texas for? Momma you can meet me in Mesquite and ride with me into Dallas for dinner or drinks or male nudie bars or sight seeing or something. It will be fun.

It's a Gerontological Society of America annual conference. My boss and I are presenting a paper. She asks every year if I want to go, but I've never had a good reason to attend before (wasn't presenting). It's expensive, so I would've felt guilty. Now? I really will be working during part of it.

Sonya said...

Call me stupid, but what is gerontological? So will your boss be here too? Will you still be able to get away? Closer to time you, momma and I will make some definite plans. I'm excited. This will be fun!

gerontological=pertaining to old folks (I work in long term care research).

I'll absolutely be able to get away. My boss is very cool and will be surrounded by her colleagues from across the country.

Wahhh! I want to come to Texas and see all of you peeps. I think you all need to come out to Cali in the summer. Party at my house!

kim (weltek) said...

If I go to California, it won't be in the summer. I get cold in the winter & need warm sunshine.

Muenster was my mother's favorite cheese. I just call it Monster Cheese and won't eat it.

Swami<--- likes simple cheeses. No skins, no stink, no mold, no chunks of weird stuff.

I've never been to TX--not even a fly-over.

Swami and MTW can come to TX too.

Sounds like fun Weltek! Color me green with envy. Some day I'm going to get to Texas so I can visit the Bug family.

Sonya said...

kim (weltek) said...

Buggy needs to be closer.

I love "monster" cheese. Yum yum. As long as you're in Texas, go the extra mile to California, too, mm-kay?

I'm interested in your long term care research. I work with geriatrics and also just purchased long term care insurance. What do you think of getting insurance for long term care?

I don't know TOO much about ltc insurance (it's funny...research is usually so limited in scope, you can't know a lot about everything). My research revolves mostly around staff in ltc. Obviously there is also resident and family research involved in that, but staff are usually the primary focus.

Anyway, the objective ltc community generally sees ltc insurance as a good thing. However, if you get it too early, you'll likely pay in more than you'll use. If your employer offers a reduced plan, or where they pay in, though, take it while you can. If you are just buying on your own, it's usually around 50 they say you should start.

And make sure you get a plan that covers home care & related activities.
