Strange Cat Behaviors

Allouette herb cheese spread and crackers today.

I have several cat behaviors in our house to document. Can you relate with your animals?

1. Super attachment issues. Ali is at my hip every second. She is my shadow. And if I even start walking towards the couch, she's already jumping up, ready to curl in my lap.

2. Ali has also been peeing on the shower rug in our bathroom for the last month. Nowhere else. It's a really fluffy, long shag rug. I've removed it for good this weekend and she doesn't appear to be going anywhere else. Chris watched her pee on it one day right in front of him. He said she didn't appear to be straining or anything else, so we are assuming it's not a UTI. She's otherwise seemed fine.

3. Yes, Puffy, Bartleby crawls and curls on my chest while I'm in the tub. He's ok with his body getting into the bubbles and a little bit of water.

4. When we are sitting on the toilet, Loki likes to crawl in the pants around our ankles and nest.

5. Which leads me to the strangest cat behvior of all. This morning Chris is still sick. He's been spending a lot of time sitting on the toilet, IYKWIM. Bartleby (not usually the nester) crawled in Chris's flannel pants...and peed. Chris had cat pee on his leg and everywhere.

WTF is up with our cats???

Sometimes, I think I'm glad that I'm allergic to cats.

I think your cats are on crack.

Seriously, it sounds like they want more attention.

And I had laugh at Chris...even though it's really not funny. Had that happened to DH, he'd have probably kicked the cat across the bathroom and then chunked it outside.

The weird thing is, we've been home a lot lately, on the couch loving them. Maybe they are becoming spoiled brats. I'm mystified.

The shower rug is a common pee place for cats. I think it may be the moldy smell.

I'm trying to get a picture of your cat on your chest when you are in the bathtub. Doesn't the cat hair stick to you like glue?

My cat sometimes circles my feet when I'm tinkling but I never let my pants hit the ground.

#5 just made me *throw up just a bit*.

I usually have a washcloth on my chest and am reading (our tub isn't very big...hard to submerge my entire body at once). He walks allover the tub edge and then plops on my chest for about ten minutes, purring. I'm telling you, my cats just aren't mentally stable.

Sorry Chris. I'm laughing because it really is funny.

I don't know. I don't know anything about cats. Our neighbors lost their cat two days ago. The girls spent about an hour last night putting up posters. Then I came home from getting our dinner and found the cat right in our backyard.

If you lived in earthquake country, I would say be prepared. Our cats are normally strange but we can usually tell when there is going to be an earthquake of any size because they act even stranger than normal. This just happened last week. Poopy was acting stranger than her normal strange self and the next day we had an earthquake. And then so did Japan.

Hm, it has been weird weather around here. Lots of storms and flooding.

Boo-you got to be the hero, by returning the cat?

I bet P would've reacted much like momma thinks her DH would. Him being such a cat fan and all.

Our Sam likes to pee on bathroom carpets. If the litter boxes aren't cleaned, then he'll poop on the carpets. He only likes to do it on small area rugs (bathroom, kitchen). I have to keep the bathroom doors closed.

Sam also likes to lie by the bathtub when I'm taking a bath. Yesterday, he crawled around the rim of the bath but didn't get in, thankfully. I kept imagining him falling in and me getting clawed to death. I'm amazed your cat lies on your chest.

Sam also likes to follow me around the house.

My Biba used to love sitting on my lap while I went to the bathroom. I just thought it was the funniest thing. *sigh* I miss my Biba.

I wish I would have read this before we got a cat.
Laugh!

My kitten likes the tub, it's very deep, but I don't think he knows that water goes in there, he just likes to slide around in the dry tub. Boy is he in for a surprise.

Maybe your kitty will like LUSH, Buggy! :-)

Nookster, I knew you'd be able to relate. :-)

I know P would have!

Yep, I even refused the reward.

Ari likes to lay down by the tub when I am taking a shower or taking a bath. After awhile he gets bored and walks away.
When I go to sleep, he jumps up on the bed next to me, and lays down with his head through the headboard. Then he thumps his tail.

Man, you have weird cats!

I think cats often want and try to crawl into your pants when they're down, maybe because the pants are warm? So don't let them do it! Ever! Cats shouldn't get to do anything they want because then you are not the dominant animal.

My cats do not climb in pants, they jump off my chair when I hiss at them, they do not ever get on the kitchen table or counter in my presence. I am pretty sure Tippy does not do that even when I am not present.

I would freak out totally if a cat ever peed on me - and said cat would get an instant flying lesson! (What happens when you fling a cat through the air.) (Not brutally, just reminding them that YOU are the boss and you can fling them if you want to.)
