*opens containers of cookies* Who needs cheese? We've got cookies!
I was at home baking and cleaning on Friday. My mail carrier rings the bell with TWO boxes of cookies! Nice timing, ladies!
I BIG thank you to mom2bjm and nutzy for the beautiful holiday treats! I got shortbread spruced up with pretty purple sprinkles, some raspberry/nutty bars, mexican wedding cookies and lemon bars! I haven't had mexican wedding cookies in YEARS. I love powdered sugar. Bonus points to both for excellent packaging. Bonus points to nutz for the pretty tins and mom2bjm for including recipes and cute packaging stickers!
So funny story: I had my baking for peeps done that morning & put them into containers. Had no boxes that were appropriately sized & figured I would buy them at the post office. Well, thanks to nutz & mom2bjm, I had boxes & packing material now! So I packaged stuff up & went to the post office. Stood in line & noticed I put my Canadian peeps cookies in the "for domestic use only" box. And there was enough of a difference in the packages that I couldn't just switch address labels (ok, just the enclosed cards and one item). DAMNIT! So I sent my U.S. peeps package out & returned home to wrap the Canadian peep's box in brown paper. But, alas, all got sent by Saturday morning.
The wine party went GREAT this weekend. Well, other than the fact that Chris ended up with his head in the toilet. People got a little loopy faster than I expected. They all really enjoyed the wine and food.
I have gained 2 lbs in the last week. My guess it's the wine, cookies, cheese and breads I've been feasting on. *licks lips*
Finally, did anyone else see the Packers spank the 49ers yesterday? *laughs maniacally*

What are Mexican Wedding Cookies?
Uggggghhhhh. I knew I forgot something. My recipes cards.
*grumble*
They will have to arrive by separate parcel.
Mexican wedding cakes/cookies (I've heard them called both things)...they are a butter cookie dough with pecans in them, rolled into balls, baked and then rolled in powdered sugar.
Hey Swami, Mexican Wedding cookies are basically a flour, powdered sugar, butter dough, with chopped walnut, then rolled into balls and baked. When they are warm, roll them in more powdered sugar, then again later. Yum! Would you like the recipe?
Glad you got them Kim! I was hoping they didn't sit in the P.O. over the weekend!
I didn't get to watch the game, but I did listen to part of it on Sirius. *hops around* We beat the Niners! We beat the Niners!
I guess I missed my invite to the party....
Yay!!! I'm so glad the cookies got there! How funny that mom2's arrived at the same time.
I forgot to put in a card. :(
I think I'm going to post the recipes on my blog for everyone to use.
Darn mail service, Bob. No holiday gifts for them!
I watched the game for Breezy. Well part of the game. I was pretty busy.
Mexican Wedding Cookies are also called other things - Russian Tea Cakes, Sandies, and my grandma called them Snowdrops, which I think is a much better name for a Christmas cookie and appropriate given it's appearance.
I am very jealous of the cookies you all are getting. Maybe next year I'll participate.
How bout snowman poop?
*hops* I received my cookies today. *big grin*
Thank you so much. I can't wait to have them for dinner. *smooch*
Holy speedy mail.
By the way, your chocolate issue challenged me! In a good way, though. I got to make snickerdoodles.
Dunk those in some milk (not the tainted kind).
You are so right, MTW!!
I always dip my cookies and stuff in milk. *milk smile*

*pout*
*takes all Kim's wine*
*comes back for cookies*
Ah, Russian Tea Cakes. That's a name I familiar with.
