Grapes and Gouda today.
What home party products do you like? Which do you hate?
I don't hate going to parties when it's a company I like. I just wish we could skip all the stupid games & presentation crap & just look & purchase. That's why I'll usually buy something, but won't attend the parties.
When I was selling TS (technically, I still am til the end of the month), I tried to keep parties short & sweet, moving the products right along for people to taste. And sometimes we just did a 10 minute intro & let people do buffet style. It was all I felt comfortable with. I'm not a salesperson.
Anywho, I like:
Pampered Chef
Tastefully Simple
Party Lite
I hate:
Home Interiors
Home & Garden Party
any of the jewelry parties
Longeberger
I'd like to attend (never have) one of the pearl parties, a tea party, and a Body Shop at Home party. I don't hate Mary Kay, they just have less & less that I like and have really raised their prices over the last five years. I frankly can find more I like a Walgreen's for less cost.
I have now TWO friends selling Home & Garden Party and I don't particularly like any of the stuff. I grudgingly agreed to host a party for my friend that just started. Yuck. I like the bean pot, but already have one. I bought candles & they sucked (except for the jarred ones). Everything else I've kind-of liked has been really expensive. I don't like it well enough to spend $65.

DW sells Pampered Chef part time, but I think she can only take Canadian orders. If there's something you really want though, just let me know, and I'll see what I can do ;-)
The whole party circuit kinda bugs me (the sense of obligation, the time out, the cost of stuff). But I'm just a pragmatic guy. Prob'ly why they don't market this stuff to us.
That said, I do like most of the Pampered Chef stuff.
I hate any of the parties. I always feel I have to buy and the stuff is so expensive. Plus, the people at the parties are always strangers so it's not like it's a fun time to socialize.
I like the Party Lite items.
I don't like games.
I don't like people. *snort*
Whatever, Meemo. If they had a guy gadget home party, you men would soooo be buying stuff! It's a good thing there isn't a Sharper Image at Home party thing. :-)
Nookie-put on your grumpy pants this morning? Sheesh!
I liked the jewelry party I went to. There was no sales pitch no nothing, she just put out the jewelry and we mingled, ate and played dress up. *grin*
The sex toy parties are fun to go to. Just sayin.
*eats grapes*
*shoves grapes in purse*
LOL. I could never go to a sex party. At least not with strangers.
they don't stay strangers for long. *grin*
I like Pampered Chef parties. In fact, it's been a year since anyone I know has had one...maybe I'll have one.
I can't though, because I actually just booked a Stampin' Up party for January. Lots of my friends do crafts and/or scrapbooking so I think it will be a fun party. And I like that the woman who sells it actually does a little craft with all the guests so they can try out the products and leave with a finished card or whatever she makes. A friend of mine had one in July and I had a lot of fun. I'm making all my own Christmas cards this year, I had so much fun!
Luna <---> Loser
See, I forgot the Stampin' Up, Creative Memories & sex toys parties. One sex toy party was enough for me. It was ok, just not one I need to do again. I'm not into crafty things (I'm the queen at trying once and quitting), but if I was, I'd enjoy the stamping & scrapbooking parties.
So, like, if I became a consultant, you wouldn't host a party? *grin*
Even if I like their stuff, I have a problem with products that are priced to provide a level of income to the party giver, the party director, the director's recruiter and so on up the ladder.
I prefer to just have them in a store where I can compare them all and make my choices.
I've never been to any of these parties, which is probably a good thing since I don't have any money. :)
*whacks* Glowie.
I agree with survey on the pricing issue. I'd rather have a Pampered Chef store, etc.
I guess it does give a unique job opportunity for people that really want to control their own schedule & don't have the cash to take a big financial risk starting a business on their own. But it's getting to be too much.
I never do any of the party things, nor does DW. She actually had a Mary Kay party and bought some stuff a couple years ago, but that was just because a good friend started selling it.
Pampered Chef stuff seems pretty good. I've had some and liked it. Also, I really like Tupperware! Tastefully Simple is food? That sounds good!
I don't do party things anymore - ever. I think the last one I went to (years ago) was a Longebarger (sp?) basket one.
If I want shit I will go to the shit store and buy shit from their stock.
I also hate games & I hate gossip. *smooches Nookie*
I'm with Swami and schnookie.
Actually, I just hate the idea of buying stuff from friends or having any financial dealings with friends.
I almost never go to the parties - mostly because I always feel guilty if I don't buy something. But, I also know very few people that are doing this, so I don't get a lot of invites anyway.
I don't think I've even seen any of the Pampered Chef stuff, although I have a feeling that it's probably just as well. So many of you like their stuff I have a feeling I could get sucked into buying it very easily. :-)
A neighbor used to do the sex toy parties, but she didn't think I'd be willing to come to one. (Thought she knew me better than that.) She doesn't do them anymore.
You're not going to be doing TS any longer??? I really loved that corn soup you sent me for Xmas. Since it's seasonal I was waiting for this year to roll around again so I could buy some from you. Now I'm gonna actually have to find someone around here that's selling??? :-(
I love the kitchen parties. But Michelle has to keep an eye on me so that I don't buy everything. Pampered Chef is the da bomb.
I like the sex parties too. Not just because of the stuff we can buy but it's always fun to watch the more reserved people bust loose and have fun.
My SIL has purse parties a lot. I just buy my purses at Target though.
Most of my friends and I went through a phase a few years ago where we did every party under the sun just to try them all. The only ones that any of us remotely deal with anymore (and maybe once a year, if that) are Home Interiors, Pampered Chef, and Stampin Up. I also have a good friend who sells Avon, which usually is my biggest downfall.
*screams*
I was going to do a pearl party. I went to one. But the whole pre-party thing was a disaster, and then I had two people signed up. Then the woman turned into a bitch.
I get suckered into and go to parties, but I too no longer really like them. I just can't afford to spend, spend, spend.
I like hosting parties. And I love hosting girls' night parties where you come to my house, eat and play games.
Luna's January party sounds interesting. If you invite me, I'll come. And I'll probably buy something. :)
I would like to have a Summer Sisters party.
I just went to a friends partylite party today. I only spent $45, and my mom (who I forced along) spent even less, but I figured just having the bodies there was considered "support".
I know a bunch of people who sell Princess House crystal, too. It's all pretty stuff, but nothing I can't find at Ross. *shrug*
Oh! I've also been to a sex party and all the girls took turns going into the bathroom to apply some cream. Ick!
Ok, ew on the bathroom experimenting at the party, MM!
Mystic-The Corn Chowder is no longer. :-( It was seasonal & didn't come back this year.
Boo-I want a Summer Sisters party, too.
Momma-Avon is so fun. It's such inexpensive girly stuff.
No more corn chowder. :-( That stuff was GOOD! If it was close enough to drive (and better yet, if someone wanted to put me up for a night) I'd love to do a Summer Sister's Party.
Niagara was fun, and I hope to get in many more peep meets over time, but a girl's night party could be really cool.
