Those Effing Christmas Letters

*pushes a nice plate of warm brie & crostini towards my bloggie friends*

I'm giving in. I'm writing a New Year's letter (in lieu of our usual Christmas cards). Because of the surgery, I put off sending Christmas cards and now I'm not feeling up to individually writing notes in each card. So I'm writing a New Year's letter.

It's not that I'm against the Christmas Letter. There are just a few every year that really reek of egotism. I'm tempted to write the anti-ego letter and talk about how shitty some things were this year. But then I sound bitter and well, nobody likes a crab (unless it's on my plate at dinnertime).

So I think I'll just keep it short & sweet. Wish me luck. Do other people agonize about these things? Do I need to just get the picture postcards next year of us & the cats so I can get away with just signing our names?

Talk about a subject that's in like two weeks late. Sheesh.

And monsty, can I have my cheesehead back? /blatantsuckingup Especially since your hair looks so pretty today? /end blatantsuckingup

I don't really like brie but I came for a beverage.

It is rainy and chilly here...anything to warm me uP?

What the hell is crostini? I was going to have some of the brie but Bob pigged out on that *squinty eyes at Bob*

At this point, I wouldn't bother sending out anything. If it's too much for you don't do it. People know you've had surgery. If they care about you, they won't be bothered at all about not receiving a card or letter.

I feel the same way about you about the letters. It's sometimes nice to get them just to see what's going on with people's lives but sometimes they do seem a bit egotistical. Only because if I tried writing one for myself, there would probably only be one small paragraph LOL.

Go with the picture postcard next year.I think I may do that. Seems like a lot of people are doing that these days and you know what? I love them. I love receiving updated pictures of people's families.

Yes, you need the photo cards so you can just sign Nolay and Weltek and be done with it. Although, you will spend as much time agonizing over what to wear, which picture to use and in the end, probably decide the letter was simpler.

My vote? Buy cute cards, sign your name and realize that those you'd send the Christmas/New Years letter to, probably already know all that stuff anyway.

I still have a stack of cards that I need to send - especially to a few fellow bloggers.

My old boss had me type one of those letters one year. It made me laugh, but it was cute.

But I'm like Nookie, I wouldn't have much to say about myself.

I think you should do the picture thing next year, and I think you should have you and Nolay dress up in Christmas sweaters with cheeseheads for your pose.

Oh, and thanks for no brie Bob.

No more story for you.

And I'm glad you're better, Weltek. I thought about you last night when I finally, finally, started to read Trace by Patricia Cornwell. I was supposed to read that months ago.

Oooooooooooh, along with the cheeseheads and dorky Christmas sweaters, you should all be seated on the mower *giggle*

Hey Boo, maybe you and I can combine our paragraphs and come up with a whole letter *grin*

I love Brie.
Now I need to go and get my holiday cards to send out. *sigh*

*passes warm spiced apple cider to zombie* That better?

I feel the pressure to send something this year because we reconnected with a lot of relatives at my family reunion this summer & I've been lousy about writing them. Plus, most people have no idea what we've been up to this year...we don't talk to many peeps not in our immediate area. Heck, my in-laws didn't even know I had surgery until that day. :-)

I just had my first comfortable nap this afternoon with no Vicodin! Yay!

And I'll consider a John Deere Christmas card just for my OT friends. :-)

Yes. But as I always tell Augie, cheese is NOT a hair product!!!!!

PS Surgery? I hope you are ok and on the mend! I love my Weltek!

I end up writing "the Christmas letter" inside every stupid card. I hope everyone appreciates the effort. I agree that they can sound snotty.

Maybe you should send out Groundhog Day letters instead. Then you've got plenty of time.

I really think Zombie is onto something with this Groundhog Day thing. *grin*

I think the picture thing is a good idea.

You also need to get more cheese in here. Someone ate it all.

How about some strawberry jam warmed up over the brie?

*head tilt* People still send out those letters? I thought that only happened on TV.

Wouldn't do it. Sending out a card is enough. Course mine were homemade. *big cheesy grin*
