Sit, have some havarti.
I have an interview today for a part-time job. Chris will also have one this week for the same job. I feel 18 again.
The job is a "captioning assistant." It's for a company that runs a TTY relay service. So if the deaf person uses their TTY phone to call oh, the Kwikie Mart (which doesn't have a TTY phone), the assistant would "mediate" the call with voice & type. $10-11/hr and you can sit & read between calls or chat with coworkers. Sounds decent to us.
Our goals will be paying of a few small loans of about $3000 total, short term. Also helping pay our property taxes. Then we'll re-evaluate the need for the jobs. I figure we can work hard for awhile to meet the goals, but if it's causing too much stress & not enough sleep, then we'll can the jobs.
I'm still selling Tastefully Simple, but I do it very part-time. I just don't have the self-discipline to sit & make phone calls to customers all the time. And I'm not pushy enough to call & ask people to have parties that haven't already expressed an interest. Therefore, I only do about 2 parties/mo. and a few hundred in reorders. Not a big money maker.
I'm hoping that by the time I'm 35, we'll have little debt other than one car loan, the mortgage and student loans. If that means I have to work a little harder now, so be it.
Or, you could just each donate $1000 to my cause & I can spend more time blogging. :-)

Good luck to you both! I admire you both for your determination. I've often thought about getting a part time job but I'm just too lazy.
Good luck on the interview. Let us know how it goes and what you think.
That actually sounds like a neat job. Good luck!
My part time job is wiping bums. I like the idea of typing stuff out.
Sounds like you have a lot of discipline, like Nookie said. Colour me impressed.
Mmm.. Havarti.
Maybe someday we'll be able to wipe children's bums instead of slave away at jobs. :-)
Good luck Kim! To help you out,(and since I don't have cash) I will send you my blockbuster card. Feel free to use it however it is needed.
MM <--very helpful
Good luck with the part-time jobs Weltek! Yours sounds perfect. If it wasn't for the commute I'd apply with you. *grin*
I have an Ann Landers column tacked on my desk at home about the definition of maturity. One of the things is putting off short term pleasure for long term gain. I think that means you're being mature. But not in an old way. *grin*
Or? Just move to Canada leaving your debt behind!
Heeeey, good thing you (lightsy) clarified your statement!
Can I take MMs card with me to Canada? Will it do me any good there?
New occupation: financial fugitive
Yay Weltek. At least you can read in between. That should be good. I just got a contract yesterday to teach six CPR classes for a company, which will be a nice chunk of change, plus I have to do about nine others for some of my other programs.
I need more discipline in putting it toward debt. But at least this month, I have only used my credit card once for some books, and I have not bought Conner any new clothes or toys.
Good luck!
If anybody makes a donation, please direct them to my blog as well!
Until then, I hope you get the job and like it.
Thanks for the Havarti.
I gotta get here earlier for the cheese.
Good luck!
