It's been awhile since I've just had some brain vomit on here, so here is a miscellaneous post.
1. Work issues are still a bit unresolved. We received a call today about another funding opportunity, which makes it hard to decide where to put our time. Sigh. Just once, I'd like to only be working on three or less projects. I've decided that I could cut back to 50% time here and maintain a lot of my benefits, as well as having the opportunity to bump that time back up if the other job falls through in the long run. Then I could be a 50% employee at the other place, which would be about $6K more a year (with only working 50%) and doing something I really love. I just worry that 50% at my current job will make me insane, trying to juggle too much. If I wasn't in school, it wouldn't be an issue, but I will need my nights and weekends for studying.
2. I've asked Chris to take on two nights of meal planning and cooking while I'm in school. We'll see how that goes. He wasn't at ALL enthusiastic. He already made his meal plan for each week...a rotation of tacos, steak and frozen pizza.
3. I'm in fresh fruit heaven. I love this time of year. We picked two GIANT quarts of raspberries last night and had our CSA delivery. I'd purchased cherries in Michigan and blueberries at the store this week. Over on OT I left a great raspberry dressing and berry bar recipe I tried last night. I rarely use recipes, so this was a monumental event.
4. I'm getting excited about the 3 Day. In case you don't recall, Boo and I are on the CREW this year, not walking. I got a reasonably priced hotel (for my two-day pre-visit) with a free shuttle downtown and to the airport, Boo got us a free ride from the airport to the training location...so all the financial pieces are becoming a LITTLE easier to swallow.
5. I love Priceline. I use it at least five times a year for hotels and rental cars.

Brain vomit and food should NOT be discussed all in one post. *makes icky face*
Ask Chris if he will cook for me 3 nights a week as well. I could use the break.
1. I cannot give work advice because I don't follow my own very well.
2. Michael introduced Conner to the joy that is KFC last night. I'm not sure why he thought he needed a bucket of chicken in the first place. I wasn't going to eat any of it. Conner smelled it and decided to try it. Hey Mikey, he likes it. He especially loved it once he stopped eating the gristle. Perhaps some KFC green beans could jumpstart the veggie train.
You can do a lot of healthy with tacos, steak and frozen pizza. Chicken tacos are an option. Steak can be divided and eaten on a salad. And I have decided that South Beach Frozen Pizza is the bomb.
3. Loving fruit right now. What is CSA?
4. Have fun with that Boo chick. *grin* No the whole ride thing is a big relief for me. I was actually a little pissed about a $100 car ride. Let's just hope she doesn't drive a Yugo.
5. I've never used it. I may have to try it.
Perhaps we can sign you up for Meals on Wheels, Bravie. You have a disability, right? :-)
Boo! KFC...mmmm. I worked there for a year and all my friends and family were very excited about it. I got to bring home the leftover sides and chicken each night. :-) I have made dismantling the extra crispies apart from the skin so I can nibble on a few. Then I toss all that and just eat the breast meat. Yum. And I like their baked beans and green beans. It's the biscuits that kill me. I love them so. Don't ever order the KFC pot pie. It has like ten-million calories.
CSA is the community supported agriculture farm share I've talked about. This week was baby lettuce greens, a head of lettuce I'd never heard of, fava beans, cucumbers, zuchinni, lots of broccoli, fennel and kohlrabi.
Mmmmmmmm Brain Vomit. Can I get a side of Popped Eyeball with that please?
*smooch*
Does anyone know what the pay is like for "bum in seat"?
I know it's a cryptic quesiotn, but I was just wondering.
Must be close to ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
Dang! Thought it would be closer to 10.
$20 MILLION, IT'S WORTH $20 MILLION!!!!!
Try cooking more food at once and having leftovers. My leftovers from eating out on Saturday night gave us 2 more meals during the week.
My one worry about Priceline is that there's no cancellations, right?
For the Olympics in China, they'll be serving KFD.
That's Kentucky Fried Dog.
Dammit, what did I miss???????
I asked Michael about the skin, and he said, "Oh, yeah, he bit into the skin and said, 'this is really good.'"
Here I've been begging for my child to eat, and he goes for fricking fried chicken and skin.
Hey, whatever works. :-)
I think you already saw what we are referring to in the LA Peep Meet thread.
1. It seems like you have 50% of a solution.
2. Chris done good. Tom would make Polish stir-fry 2 nights a week. That's sausage, potatoes and gawd knows what all fried up together. Served with a pickle.
3. CSA is too random for me. The farmers market has all that and more and I can get exactly what I want at the moment.
4. This is that walk thing, correct? To me CREW is always rowing so I had a WTHeck moment.
5. Never tried it; not enough control. I have control issues. See also point #3.
LOL @ SWami's control issues. I can see why those two things wouldn't be for you. And BTW, I make a Polish Kielbasa recipe with beer. I bet Tom would like that. :-)
Yep, Puffy, Priceline doesn't let you cancel, so it's always a risk if you are even slightly unsure.
Re: Priceline - I know you can't get your money back but can't you use the ticket towards other travel within a year?
I haven't used them for air, just hotel & car rental. Those, to my knowledge, cannot be cancelled.
I think you're right about the no cancellations on Priceline Kim.
I love them too though. Got some good deals on hotels with them.
How do you know that you are not getting a crappy rental car company? I am tempted to use them for our Disney trip this year since I can't find anything reasonable.
I don't want a Flintstone mobile.
Oh...how about adding in breakfast for dinner?
Great, he'll then make biscuits and gravy. He doesn't believe in making healthy breakfasts. :-)
Car rentals on priceline actually give you a great option. You can click something like "Choose from the major companies." I've always gotten Avis, Budget or Hertz. I always shop around first. I've sometimes gotten a better deal thru Budget. I usually make silly low offers on Priceline and have about a 75% success rate with my silly-low offers (less than $20/day).
1. Work issues will have to wait til next week cause I'm on holidays. *grin*
2. I've tried to work out a similar deal with Dave and his nights always involve meat (steak or pork chops) and potatoes (usually mashed). No veggies, no salad, just meat and potatoes.
3. I bought strawberries and cherries this week. Mmmmm! Made some no-cook stawberry jam yesterday and had it for breakfast this morning. Sooooo good.
4. I'm jealous that you get to spend 3 more days with Boo and I have yet to spend a single one with her.
5. Never used Priceline. I have used itravel2000.com and found great prices.
Ack! Every time someone talks about KFC I get a friggin' craving!
