*blows dust of platter* I've missed this place. The fridge needs some serious cheese restocking.
I'm doing a little project. I'm making a blogland cd. You get to give me ONE song that I can find to download. It will go on a mixed cd, so I can think of you when I play it.
For a lot of smooches, I might even send you one.
So what is one song that represents you? It might be a song that represents your favorite musician/s, a fond memory, your personality or is just a current favorite.

Welcome back ya cheese head!! *smooch*
I guess I'm not allowed to suggest a Celine Dion song right? *grin*
I'd download B-52's Rock Lobster to remind me of Monsty LOL.
This is tough. I have several fave songs but I want to choose an upbeat song.
I'll be back {/Terminator Voice}
Hmmmmm,
Fire & Ice?
Hot Blooded?
Crazy Bitch? Ohhhh, that's the one. Crazy Bitch by Buckcherry. *grin*
LOL at Nookie. I think she's had a lot of caffeine this morning.
Good one Bravie! *snort*
Please do NOT let Nookie talk you into a Celine song. Just don't. In case we get copies of the CD. *grin*
Ok, here's my song: Octopus's Garden by the Beatles. This song represents me for several reasons. The Beatles are my absolute FAVE band ever. This song is silly and reminds me that we need more silliness in our lives. And, I would love to be in an Octopus's Garden with you. I think we'd have loads of fun.
I found another song to download that would remind me of Monsty. The Beatle's: "Everybody's got something to hide, except me and my monkey". LOL.
LOL at Carey's suggestions. The only one I know is hot blooded.
If you absolutely hate the Beatle's, let me know and I'll choose another song.
LOL Carey. I know better than to suggest a Celine Dion song. I may be a bitch, but I'm not a Crazy Bitch. *giggles*
I'm still laughing at the monkey song. I think I shall put this on, too!
I love the Beatles and I love my Nookster!
Hiya Kim!! :D
I like the cd idea!! My contribution after studying my itunes would be Wiser Time by the Black Crowes. I love the sound, the words, what it reminds me of...plus it sounds like a warm summer day to me. Whenever I play it, I think of a sunny afternoon, mid summer with a slight breeze, maybe on the way to an outdoor concert. Makes me very happy.
I was going to offer up "Grazin' in the Grass" by the The Best of Friends of Distinction but thought you guys wouldn't quite dig it.
Hmm, what about Regina Spektor for me? Fidelity is my favorite song. If you hate the sound, I'll choose another.
What a cool idea Kim!
Welcome back!!
I really like Regina Spektor. Glad you picked a more upbeat one of hers or it could be a real downer point in the cd. :-)
The notion of the anthem is derived from the greeks. I believe it first emerged as a response to a psalm or a chant- the call and the response. I think this is what music does for us.
I think there is more than one song that represents us. The teenager in me, loves Boston's "More than a Feeling." Mini van or not this song gets cranked. My sexy song is "Back in Back." It makes me feel-- you know what, I am going to just move on, lol.
The mother in me cherishes Carole King's song "Child of Mine" I like the chorus: "My dear, sweet child, I am so glad you are a child of mine." It reminds of my best blessing, my greatest gift: Nathaniel and Caroline. I am so honored to be their mother.
The song that most represents my journey here on Earth is Peter Gabriel "Solsbury Hill". There is a lot of the Prodigal Son in there- in that we always manage to come metaphorically "come home".
The first verse reminds me a sudden great spring of hope and it also suggest a spiritual death: "Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
Had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
(I) just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom
"Son," he said "Grab your things,
I've come to take you home."
The last verse is the great rebirth- moving from hope to faith:
"When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me
Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" I said "You can keep my things,
they've come to take me home."
So probably more than you expected to hear but there it is anyway.
Or just go with Nookie's "Rock Lobster" either one is fine.
(Great to have you back to blogland. In honor of your choice I am going to make my blog public.)
Ask Monsty for the time and she'll build you a watch. :-)
*cookie smooches to Monsty* I think you missed Nookie's monkey song reference.
OK I just read Ms. Octupus's Garden's comments and I think she is in a goofy mood today.
(Nookie would pick a Ringo song, for Cod's sake.)
"You Let Your Heart Go Too Fast", or "Big Fat Funky Booty", both by the Spin Doctors. I really like the first song, plus I think it describes me just a little. The second, I just love the title.
That reminds me, I need your new blog address, Arkie. email me at mySBusername@yahoo.com if you are willing to share. If not, no worries.
Oh wait. Monsty reminded me. I need to change mine.
It should be Sister Golden Hair Surprise. *grin*
It's snarkyarkie.blogspot.com
I decided to make it public, so I don't mind posting it here.
WTF is THAT song?
Gracias, Arkie
I love "More than a Feeling".
OMH, Solsbury Hill is an awesome song. Great choises Monsty.
You may think my choises are lame, but at least I didn't pick a Celine Dion song.
:-)
Jason said "Lady in Red."
*blush*
I think you should put Incubus's Dig on for me. It's a good song. Plus it is about friends who look out for each other. I love that song.
Sister Golden Hair is a great song by America.
"Well I tried to make it Sunday, but I got so damn depressed
That I set my sights on Monday and I got myself undressed
I ain't ready for the altar but I do agree there's times
When a woman sure can be a friend of mine
Well, I keep on thinkin' 'bout you, Sister Golden Hair surprise
And I just can't live without you; can't you see it in my eyes?
I been one poor correspondent, and I been too, too hard to find
But it doesn't mean you ain't been on my mind
Will you meet me in the middle, will you meet me in the air?
Will you love me just a little, just enough to show you care?
Well I tried to fake it, I don't mind sayin', I just can't make it
Well, I keep on thinkin' 'bout you, Sister Golden Hair surprise
And I just can't live without you; can't you see it in my eyes?
Now I been one poor correspondent, and I been too, too hard to find
But it doesn't mean you ain't been on my mind
Will you meet me in the middle, will you meet me in the air?
Will you love me just a little, just enough to show you care?
Well I tried to fake it, I don't mind sayin', I just can't make it
Doo wop doo wop"
I have this running list in Word and it's going to be the funniest mix of music evah!
I like that song Deb. Good thematic choice.
Now I know that song. I just didn't recognize the name.
Would it be just too easy to suggest that Breezy's song should be "Short People" or "Under the Rainbow"?
Yeah cheese!
Did I mention I want to buy a cow? I pay 2000 (which I can get back at any time) and I get $240 worth of cheese a year from a local dairy.
Let's see. I'm fond of "Cows with Guns" by some band, but I think my song has to be "The last Saskachewan Pirate" by The Arrogant Worms.
And Welcome Back!
and Arkie too and Monsty too! (Ok I know Arkie just went semi-private, but I never visited the semi-private blogs, so welcome back!)
LOL-I'm supposed to find that song online?
Oooh, I think you should buy the cow. Can you name the cow?
How Does "I am Cow" work for you Bob? I'm still working on finding that exact song by the Arrogant Worms, but found this cow gem.
I found the Pirate one as performed by The Pubcrawlers. *giggle* Very entertaining.
*whacks* Bravie. Mean girl!
For me... hmmmm an INXS song would be good since we saw them together. Pretty Vegas!
*dreamy sigh* I was just looking at my pics from the concert the other day.
*jumps up and down*
I just read Bob's blog!
Is there cheese left? Hard to think of a song when you are put on the spot! But i do love
"Love Her Madly" by The Doors. I love the trippy music and it makes me feel really bouncy. The Doors are one of my favorites.
Also I think you should put on there "Monstah Mash" for Monsty. I hear it was a graveyard smash....
Or? Mary, Mary by the Monkees, cause well that's me 2 times!
Oooh, and I do love me some Monkees. And I own an album with that on it, so free song bonus.
Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos.
That is my number one forever song. It represents a time in my life when things were sooooo easy, but hard because I was a kid. That or Happy Phantom by Tori. They are constants with me.
Great Idea BTW and soooo glad to see you back.
Brick House by the Commodores.
I'm mighty mighty.
So glad to see you back. *smooch*
How about "Feelin' Groovy" by Simon & Garfunkel. One of my all time favorite songs.
*hops* This is making an otherwise crappy day much better.
How about Bob Seger - C'est La Vie? Or something by Blue Rodeo. Five Days in July?
Smooth--Rob Thomas and Santana. It's my favorite song because I like to think that Rob is looking for me the bario (never mind that I've never actually been to a bario).
You peeps are weird.
May I suggest Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake.
That? or Fat Bottom Girls by Queen.
:D
Welcome back! *smoooooch*
Great idea! I have three completely separate songs that really speak to me, so I'll list all three and you decide.
1. Here Comes the Sun - the Beatles: My all time mostest favorite song, ever. Our high school has a planetarium, and when I was in grade school we would take field trips to it. After the star show was over, the planetarium director would slowly turn the lights back on, stimulating the sun rising, and he would play this song. I love the stars, I love the sun (SUMMER!) and I love the Beatles. Bonus? This song also reminds me of Monsty, and I love her, too. :-)
2. Bright Side of the Road - Van Morrison: I love Van Morrison. I have a total and complete crush on him (yes, he's short and fat but the man is a musical genius). This song makes me happy and if I had to pick my favorite VM song, this would probably be it. (somedays my fav VM tune is Have I Told You Lately That I Love You - his version is TONS better than Rod Stewart's)
Into this life we're born
Baby sometimes we don't know why
And time seems to go by so fast
In the twinkling of an eye
Let's enjoy it while we can
Won't you help me sing my song
From the dark end of the street
To the bright side of the road
3) Sunshine and Summertime - Faith Hill: If AugustGirl was a TV show this would be the theme song.
We’ve got bare foot ladies
and tricked out Mercedes
People getting crazy on the boulevard
We’ve got classic colas
and ice cold corona’s
and big pool parties in the back yard
I said
“heyyyyy, that’s the way we do it”
new friends and blue skies that never end.
“Heyyyyy, that’s the way we like it”
Good times, sunshine and summertime.
WAIT! Since I just came back from a cruise and I'm obsessing on disco, here's one more:
Rock the Boat - The Hues Corporation
Augie, DH's and my first dance was to the VM version of Have I Told You Lately. :)
Currently, I like "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat.
I'm so happy to see you back!
Oh! Please check out another song I love called Song Number 6, by Ane Brun. She has a myspace where you can hear it. It might be my very favorite song at the moment.
here's a link. You have to scroll down a little in the music box to get to it:
http://www.myspace.com/anebrun
Yippee!
I downloaded Crazy Bitch on my iPod because Geg said it was her theme song, so I have it there to mock her. Plus it gives me the most awesome workout.
I downloaded Regina Spektor's Fidelity for MM.
For me. Hmmm. I think you almost most certainly have to do "I Hope You Dance." I LMAO everytime I hear that song, and it reminds me of Chicago with you.
If you had to do any other song for me, I would go with one of these:
Centerfield by John Fogerty. It's a baseball song. Monsty would certainly agree that all is right in the world when baseball starts. At least it's supposed to be.
Crying by Don McLean is my most favorite song of all time. Yep, the McLean version.
Nightswimming by REM is another favorite of mine.
I'm going to have so much fun putting this together! Once I get it done, I'll put an announcement up and anyone that wants a copy can send me their address.
Thanks for making this fun. I'll have to drop MTW an email to request a song since his recovery is preventing him from joining in the fun.
"Call Me" by Blondie im my official theme song! I also love "The 49th Street Bridge Song" (for when I'm feelin' groovy.)
Um, "Imagine" by John Lennon - if you're doing a whole Beatles section thing.
I also love Loreena McKennitt's musical version of Alfred Lord Tennyson's 1843 poem "The Lady of Shalott."
What? No Barry Manilow songs yet!!!
(Bravie claimed "Hotblooded" already.)
oooh, I love Call Me! Too bad I can't download from my 45 records. Well, ok, it was my sister's 45, but I still listended to it.
I second the motion on a few of my favorite songs already mentioned:
Hot Blooded
Octopus' Garden
Grazin' in the Grass
Lady in Red
Short People
Feelin' Groovy
Sexy Back
Have I Told You Lately that I Love You
Here Comes the Sun
I Hope you Dance
Call Me
Centerfield
"Right Now" by Van Halen. It makes me laugh because it reminds me of Crystal Pepsi, which in turn reminds me of the Saturday Night Live spoof "Crystal Gravy."
It also reminds me of my friend Dennis who loved Van Halen and passed away a couple years ago.
But it's also a kick-aras song.
That's my vote, if it's not too late.
You're My Best Friend by Queen.
Glad you're back on blogland Kim
