Cubes of emmenthaler and edam today. E cheeses.
Tuesday's are Chris's late night at work, so I take the bus over, walk to his office, grab the car and run errands. It was still very cold and a fresh coat of snow was on the ground, so he came to pick me up at the bus stop. Well, as he came over the hill and tried to stop, he slid in the car and bumped off a solid snowbank. We didn't think much of it. We drove back to his office to drop him off (just a few blocks) and I went to the grocery store a few more blocks away. Then I went across the street to TJ Maxx. Yep, I got him some new workout pants and me new socks.
I went to pick Chris up around 5:45 because he let his group out early. As soon as I pulled onto the street...thump thump thump. Hm. A few blocks before his office it hit me. The effing tire is flat. It was so slushy and sleety, that it didn't immediatly dawn on me why steering sucked.
Sure enough, a dead flat tire. The hit to the snowbank had wreck the tire completely. No time like in below zero temps to change a tire. And the roads were so terrible we didn't want to drive with a spare on, so off to get new tires we went. We needed new ones anyway. Sigh.
At least they weren't brand new tires we wrecked. Kind of glad we put off getting new ones. And at least it happened in town, not on the highway in the middle of the country.

Oh wow! Now I feel bad because yesterday I saw some poor person changing a tire in that exact same weather. I laughed and said, "Sucks to be you".
Good grief. At least new tires have got to make you feel a little more safe given the weather recently.
What do Chris's new workout pants look like?
Yeah, really cold ice is harder than concrete. I can see how it would wreck the side of your tire.
Tom loves to pick out new tires. He is always up on exactly what is the best tire of the moment for ice and snow. So, what kind of tires did you get?
Chris's new pants are lightweight navy cotton/poly blend pants with open bottoms on them (like the basketball warm up pants, only in cotton). He wore them as lounge pants last night. Apparently I am alone in my freakishness that likes to seperate workout wear and loungewear.
Swami, we got Cooper 60K mile warranty tires...not sure of any other cool description I can give you. The owner said their tread pattern is great in the snow.
LOL @ Lasann!
Let's see. It was 65 degrees here yesterday. The low was maybe 47? Hard to understand what you were going through! ;-)
Boy, at least he didn't hit another car. How frustrating to have to go look for tires and late in the day, too. At least you found a place open.
I remember, back in the day, when the spare tire was a real tire.
Heh, me too, Bob. The lil' donut would've been trecherous on the roads last night.
My car has a full sized spare tire. People always think it's some kind of dinosaur or rare beast, but the car is a 1999, so not THAT old.
Flat tires make me cranky. I've never had to deal with one in the ice and snow, but I'll bet that would make me extra cranky.
*knocks on wood*
Haven't had a flat tire in... hmm -20 years probably, on my VW bug back at college. When we put the jack in to jack it up? The car was rusted and started falling apart. A coupla guys just lifted up the back of the car and a couple of others put the tire on! So much for helpless college co-ed!! (and that was in the snow too!
Glad to hear that you only hit a snowbank. I was worried you were going to say you hurt your pretty truck!
Dave's truck needs new tires. We've been putting it off because we seldom drive it anymore. When we DO drive it I keep my fingers crossed all day that the tires will hold up till we get home.
He's priced new tires and they're $200 each. He wants the same kind we have on it now. I can't disagree, these ones have lasted for about nine years. Maybe we should just get a new truck instead. *grin*
Yikes. That's scary. Glad it didn't turn into a huge ordeal though.
And about Chris' pants....I'm with the crowd that believes since you are in your own home, in the basement, you could work out nekkid if you chose. Doesn't much matter what you wear, as long as you are excersizing.
Hi Kim. When are you coming to se eme?
I'll know for sure next week. The March date got scrapped. Thus, it will either be April or May. Sigh. I hate things in flux.
