February is sponsored by the letter T

Sharp white cheddar and crackers today.

T? Why T you ask?

T is for tires, which I told you about a few weeks ago.

T is also for transmission. Yesterday, in the thick of traffic, a car let loose some ice chunks from its wheel wells right in front of us. It was unavoidable that we "clunked" right over them. Well, last night, on the way home, the car was not going into gear when we were driving along. I just said "Maybe we should turn around and go to the mechanics" when it permenantly wouldn't stay in drive. We limped off the road and transmission fluid was everywhere. We assumed it was cracked in the ice debacle that morning. However, towing guy didn't see a crack. Might have jostled the transmission enough to blow a seal, though. Either insurance or the warranty should cover it (minus our deductible, though, for insurance), but still, it sucked.

That really sucks. I hate car problems. Hate them. At least I'm married to the mechanic, so I can work something out with the labor costs. *grin*

*shakes fist* Stupid car people... CLEAN OFF YOUR CARS. Grrrr.
I can't tell you how many accidents I saw last week with people swerving around chunks of ice that fell or people getting hit with flying ice. People are so lazy.

Trucks are the worse offenders in ice-chunk launching. I will not follow a snow or ice covered truck - I just slow or pull over to get away.

I hope your transmission recovers without too much $$$. Paying the deductible will suck though.

Turns out it was just a hose that was destroyed. Still, diagnostics, etc and an oil change (might as well get it done!) is about $300. Oh well. Life goes on.

Chris's comment last night? "We are moving to Hawaii"

Ack! That sucks. I guess it could have been, in the end. *sigh* California is cheaper than Hawaii.
Just sayin'.

Could have been *worse*! LOL.

mm, I think she took it in the end. I never thought of ice falling from cars and causing problems.

*snort*

Hey, I'M all for CA, although I haven't been scouting Oregon yet. It's also high on my list.

Totally rooting for California.

Oh, and MY part of Cali is cheaper than Carey's. *grin*

*sticks tongue out at Carey*

MTW has a big enough house that I could move into his basement and nobody would ever know.

Ah, but Dallas is way cheaper than Cali and there's only a few days a year it "ices" or "snows". Then the whole world shuts down.

Ooh, and you don't have earthquakes.

That just SUCKS. It's bad enough when something goes wrong on its own... (I'm still trying to diagnose why the engine light suddenly came on on my Mistsi on the way to the Zoo a couple of weeks ago. We're driving the Jeep & the Stealth until I figure it out.) Having someone else, who hasn't bothered to clear their car off, cause the problem? Arghhhh!

Hope it's not major. *hugs*

My windshield wiper blade flew off last night. It is good to have new ones.

Hey.. I changed my own wiper blades the other day.. before it rained again, since the old ones were falling apart. Stupid Taurus takes two different sizes of wiper blades.. so I'll have to buy TWO sets each time.

*secretly glad I had the extra ones in the trunk this time!*
