I want to be special.

I just applied to be a "special" student here at the UW. :-)

I'm giving more and more thought to getting my master's degree. For that, I'll need to take the GREs. One of the programs I'm looking at is HIGHLY comptetitive. Thus, my boss thinks good GRE scores would really help my case. My GPA is a 3.26 thanks to carpy math grades and working full time while in classes. Bare minimum for entrance is a 3.0. Thus, great GRE scores would really help bolster the case for academic success.

So, anyway, I'm thinking of taking a math brush up course so I don't look so miserable on the quantitative section of the exam. Figure I'd apply for "special student" admission & then I'll make up my mind. I would take a course at a tech school, but I think if I do well on the course at the UW, it will look even better to my potential admitters. Plus getting to classes would be waaaaay easier if I stick with something here at work!

I'd post here, but I'm too busy eating squeaky cheese from the previous post.

Oh good for you! This would be a great thing to do. By all means do whatever it takes to be considered by more schools.

I have no idea what a GRE is, but go get 'em!

The GRE is the exam many graduate schools require for entrance. It's like the SATs for grad school.

You're like one of the brainy special people, aren't you?
Was my spelling and punctuation okay? *crosses fingers*

If I were one of the brainy people, I wouldn't need to take this brush up math class. :-)

I'd lend you Jason to tutor you (he's a math genius) but the commute might be a bit far for you. :)
Good luck with the GREs. If I ever get my butt in gear, I can use my scores from the GREs I took several years ago. I'd better get on it though, or they will expire.

Any idea how long they are good for, Debs?

Good luck with the GREs, Kim. I never took them. I took some extra math courses to prep for the MCAT once, but then I figured out that I didn't really like sick people anyway so I never took it. Instead I got a promotion at my job which was fine with me. You do not need to have a good bedside manner to work with mice. They just don't care. Or if they do care they still don't get a vote.

I probably would have done for crap on the MCAT anyway. Math is not my strong point, or theory either. I did great on my SATs back in the day, but the MCAT is a whole different ballgame/

In college I totally aced every lab course or lab segment but I was just so-so on theory. I can make stuff work every time though - which is great for a bench work career.

I have no idea why I am babbling on. Don't read what I just wrote.

By the way...what Tastefully Simple stuff will you be clearing out of your inventory? We may need a blog party/sale thing before you quit.

Oooooh, yes, I like that idea, Momma.
