Shoes

Monterrey Jack with Toasteds crackers today. I love those crackers.

Anywhoo....let's talk shoes.

I need a new pair of black semi-dressy sandals. Mine are falling apart. I browsed Payless last night with no luck. I can't stand things between my toes and some of the wide bands across the foot were stiff & rubbed into my foot when I walked. I have size 10 feet, so my selection is also usually limited.

Chris also needs new shoes. He likes to wear hiking boots because he needs arch support & ankle support. Let's face it: hiking boots are not exactly dapper. He goes through a pair/year because it's really all he wears. He has these regular brown lace up shoes that I really like on him, however he complains the arch support sucks. They also don't offer ankle support, but he can live with that.

So we are having a household shoe issue. I think we both need a new pair before Niagara. I'm hoping a set of nice insoles will prompt my DH into wearing the cuter shoes.

I think I need to hit DSW & maybe Wal-Mart. For some reason, I have always been able to find inexpensive, comfortable, fairly stylish shoes at Wal-Mart. I usually have better luck there than Payless. And Target and Kohl's are hit or miss for shoes usually. Sometimes I find a cute comfy pair at Target & sometimes I find an under $30 pair at Kohls that I like. At DSW I'll have to pay a little more, but it might be worth it. I have a really difficult time paying over $35/pair. $20 or less/pair is more in my price range. I'm just not enough of a shoe-ho I guess.

Do you have Mervyn's Department store out there? They always have the best sales on shoes. I have bought Skechers from them before off the clearance rack for under $10.
I get almost all of my shoes (except flip flops) from them.

No Mervyn's here. I've heard of the store, but have never been in one. Are they like one of those discount overstock stores like a T.J. Maxx or Marshall's? I hadn't thought about those for my shoes...

Oh, I also got my hair chopped off last night. About 3 inches gone. It's a little too short for my liking, but it will grow fast. If I were Monsty, I'd be fretting about it more.

Mervyns is just like Kohls. Kohls just came out to the west coast a couple of years ago.

I need some new shoes also. I have never been able to find anything I like at Kohl's. I do love their clothes though.

Like you, I hate to spent more than $20 on a pair of shoes but realize sometimes I have to. I quite often get all my shoes at Payless. I have found a place that I like ... it's Shoe Carnival. Good prices and nice shoes.

Get Nolay a pair of flip-flops for Niagara LOL.

I just bought some nice kicks from Lands End. Those sport shoes that are waterproof to and the sand goes through them!

They are so comfy and I got them in pink!

I found some great dressy sandal types at walmart by Dr. Scholl.

The Dr. Scholl's brand IS really comfy.

I also want some tan Crocs. They are uber comfortable, but oh so ugly. Good for working outside, though.

Did you say... shoes?

I *heart* shoes. One day, I will take the time to count them, but I think I have about 50 pairs.

I am not very selective about where I buy them, but I will spend extra $$$ to get good ones that are also stylish. I spend a lot of time on my feet in the classroom, so I can't wear the cheaper ones that I used to when I was a teeny bopper. NO $2 flip flops for me.

Do you have a Marty's shoes near you? They have good name brand stuff for lots less than the department stores.

I have a FIL named Marty & he has shoes. I don't think I want to shop in his closet, though.

The earth shoes at Walmart are your best bet. They usually feel good and are inexpensive.

DH wears his Teva sandals to walk around in or sport shoes. The Tevas offer good support and are nice looking. As a matter of fact, I have a pair, but haven't worn them in a while. I need to get them out and wear them more often. I might be wearing them in Niagara. They cost about $39 at DSW. You can also wear them as shower shoes in the campground, so they can serve more than one purpose.

I wore my Birkenstocks to walk a distande in instead of my Reebok walking shoes and hurt my hamstrings. I'll be trying out the Teva's in the neighborhood to see how they perform.

I am so not a shoe girl.

Do you have Shoe Carnival or Kohl's. I've had luck at both of them.

And I remember the days when I wore boots all the time. I had some Timberland's that I wore all the time. They cost as much as three weeks worth of groceries. But I didn't care. I loved them, and I looked pretty stylish. Almost boyish. But sexy boyish.

And I agree with Nookie. Nolay should wear flip flops to Niagara.

I don't think Nolay has ever worn flip flops, except maybe in his early teens!

We had to get vaccuum sealer bags at WM last night, so I ran through the sandal section. Within 5 minutes I had the perfect black sandals...even in a 9 1/2, smaller for me than usual.
