Have some sympathetic white queso & chips with me.
They are all dead. Well, all but five. The 40 pepper plants and 20 tomato plants that I nursed from seeds and carefully planted on Monday are dead. Who knew that Monday night we were going to have a bad frost? *sniff* The five bell pepper plants survived. Those were seeds I had taken from the most delicious farmer's market red bell pepper I'd ever had. I forget what kind it was, but yum!
Anyway, I give up. I'm not investing any more time or money in the tomatoes & peppers. I'll have such little time to garden this summer, anyway.
So much work down the drain. This has been a very late killing frost for our area. Usually the second week of May & you are then safe. However, there HAVE been killing frosts around Memorial Day before...just long ago. I'm a young gardener, I guess I took a chance. Sigh.

vegetable killer!!!!!
Although technically, I think tomatoes are fruit.
Awwwwwwwwwwww! That sucks. So much work. I learned my lesson when planting flowers here. It gets so warm in March that one year I planted flowers and of course they died because we got a frost in April. Usually, if I"m going to plant anything, I wait until May. I took a chance this year and planted some petunias in April. There was a threat of frost but it didn't happen. *phew*
Peppers and tomatoes are gross anyway. :)
Do you say "tomaytoe" or "tomahtoe"?
Do you say "pepper" or "peppah"?
*moment of silence*
Poor veggies. :(
YOu should just grow cheese.
We've had bad frost the last two nights. I'm a little nervous about planting my annuals this weekend. *crosses fingers*
Poor little plants-so young, so full of promise.
Growing cheese, you say? *thoughtfully scratches chin*
MMMMMmmmmm Tomatoes!
Damn you to hell woman.
What? Tomatoes are good for you! Go eat some, boo!
Don't give up so soon. You can torture those plants for a good few months yet.
It's really a sad site to see over 50 brown, shrivled plants all lined up in a row.
In other related news, I really like peas.
I just planted a whole row of donuts.
I have to hide my tomatoes from Conner. He wwould eat them non-stop if I allowed it.
*hugs*
So sorry for the loss of your peppers and maters.
Puffy planted donuts, which means we'll be meeting at her house every Saturday morning throughout the summer.
Puffy, we'll be there around 9 a.m. Please also have coffee & tea ready.
