I only buy microwave popcorn when it's on sale (it was yesterday). Sometimes I buy the big bag of kernels and pop in the popcorn pot (one of those tall pots with the "stirrer"). But, it takes me like a year to go through one of those bags.
Good times, good times.

You can also microwave pop regular popcorn. Just put a couple tablespoons in a paper bag, fold over to keep closed and pop away.
I don't like popcorn because the little husk skins get stuck in my teeth. Hours later, I am still pulling/sucking them out. But microwaved popcorn has the most lovely scent!
My kid makes it with regular popcorn in a paper bag like Breezy said. It doesn't smell quite as good. Probably needs more chemicals.
Love popcorn, and I try to eat it within reason. I share some occasionally with Conner.
This reminds me of something that I'm not quite ready to blog about yet. It's semi-serious, but panicked parental thinking will lead you do some crazy ideas.
Oh, and I recently discovered a box of popcorn I bought from the boyscouts last year that I haven't popped yet.
I like to make my popcorn on the stovetop. A little oil, too. That's the best. I eat microwave popcorn when I am lazy but it really isn't my favorite. I sprinkle that popcorn powder flavor stuff on it. I have butter, ranch and cheddar flavors.
I also use those powders on my baked cauliflower.
Burnt microwave popcorn doesn't smell too nice. Lately, I have 1/2 unpopped kernals left in the bag.
Mr. Fro's favorite snack is popcorn. We don't buy microwave popcorn, he does it in a pot on the stovetop. It's his special popcorn pot, and popcorn is the only thing it gets used for. It's nothing special, just an el-cheapo pot that I bought at Marshall's. I think it was $3. Someday he'll burn through it and I'll have to look for another el-cheapo pot.
He uses a little oil, and the popcorn kernels. Sometimes he butters the finished product and sometime not - it doesn't actually need it but when we're feeling decadent we go for the butter.
It's good.
I grew up loving the big dutch over of popcorn with melted butter poured over it. Mmmmmmmmm.
Now, I'm just so "meh" about popcorn. Except at the movies. Mmmm, movie popcorn. And I love the seasonings Bravie talked about (and they now have at the theatre). I might have to pop a bag this afternoon.
When you speak of the "big pot with the stirrer" are you referring to the big pot with the snap-on lip that is hinged so you can open just one side of it. Connected on the underside of the lid is a long metal t-shaped rod Connected to the lid is the wooden handle that you turn so the rod inside mixes up the corn as it pops?
Cause if you are - I have one of those and I wouldn't pop corn any other way.
If you're not, then you should get one, because they are fab!
Yep, that's the one! Chris's dad gave it to us as a hand-me-down.
Mmmm, popcorn.
Today I got a swim team fundraiser, and part of it is gourmet popcorn. Some of the flavors sound and look just way too yummy.
