Boo's Big Give on OT made me think about a few cash scenarios. WWYD?
1) You been given $10,000 to spend towards a vehicle today. You must go buy one. What would you do? Would you trade in your current car? Would you buy a car you've been coveting and make up the difference with a loan? Would you buy something used with the cash?
2) You've been given $3,000 for a vacation for two. Where would you go and who would you take? Would you put this towards a bigger vacation or try to stick to the $3000?

I would trade in my car and buy a hybrid. I don't care what kind because cars are not at all important to me. I'll make up the difference with a loan if I must.
I would put $3000 towards a vacation for me and Michelle to go to Cannes during the film festival. That has been a dream for both of us as long as we have known each other.
I never knew you and Michelle wanted to go to Cannes. Well, I guess it shouldn't surprise me about your little junior-actress Michelle. :-)
I would try to find a newer used diesel car and convert it for biodiesel. Not sure I can do that for $10K, so I might need to chip in more. There are several places in Madison to fill up. And we'd still have our regular fuel 2nd vehicle. Plus, it would maybe cure my cravings for friend food.
For a vacation, I think I'd go to Germany or Ireland for a week. Shouldn't be too much more than $3K. I'd need too much more for my dream vacation to New Zealand.
You need to talk to my Mom about New Zealand. She and her friends took a month long vacation there a few years back. They now meet up every year and have a reunion party. They do not meet in New Zealand every year, just a different city within the US.
She did New Zealand and Australia and absolutely loved it.
As for Ireland, you need to talk to Michelle's Mom. That was her dream vacation as well and they have been there a few times.
They once did a road rally, about 10 years ago with something like 20 other couples. It was a spiff through their padding company (all the peeps are in the flooring business). It was a free trip and they were given brand new Mercedes (not to keep). Four people per car and they got to travel Europe for two weeks in the borrowed car. Her parents could not have ever had a better vacation. They got to share the car with another couple who is one of their best friends. So that made it that much more fun for them.
1. I would buy a nicer, higher end car than I was planning before the extra $10,000 magically appeared. We would give current car to our middle DD who burned out the engine in her car last month.
2. Tom and I would spend more than the $3,000. Places we want to go include Bali, Thailand and New Zealand so we need Big Bucks for that trip.
1. I would buy a nice used car.
2. I would find an all inclusive deal at a beach resort for me and DBF.
No car payment for me at this time. So I would attempt to sell my truck and see if that got me closer to being able to afford something that gets better gas mileage AND something that is still in the SUV department.
Vacation: Beach baby. Beach. Or I suppose I would take the whiner to Vegas. *grin*
1) i'd put it toward a subaru outback. i've been wanting one forever. i'd trade in my husband's car so he could have mine, then i'd get the subaru. 4WD station wagon!
2) it has to be two... i'd take my husband. and i'd try to get him to go to vegas w/ me and get married there. i'd make that 3,000 last from the time we left til the time we got back.
I would buy a smart car.
With $3000, Mr Bob and I would fly to meet somewhere cool for a vacation. Maybe a one week guided kyak tour in the Queen Charlotte's.
1) could I just pay off the loan on my current car?
2) stick to the $3000 and go to Dominican for a week but not until next winter.
1. El Camino, with purple flake metallic paint and a brand new engine, with two-tone purple/white leather upholstery and a bitchin' stereo.
It's my dream car - it doesn't have to be good for the environment :P
2. $3 thou?
Steve and I are GOIN' TO ITALY AND GREECE.
I would take the $10,000 and put it toward a car that we are already considering. Mr. Puffy's car is getting it's 3rd transmission in 3 years.
I'd use the $3000 to travel to the U.S. National Parks.
Can I use it to fix OT? :(
Check my blog tonight for a notice of general meeting in the bar Monday if it's not back up. Dabo and I found a couple of working links. Hope to see you there. *headbutt*
Holy smokes-a cq sighting and Frisky in one weekend! Now, if we could only get Frisky to come out and play when OT isn't broken.
So THIS is what's going on when OT is so slow! ;)
It's a good thing they didn't blow up the blogger servers, too!
Oh, well. Maybe it's a good thing. Maybe a couple of trolls got zapped in the process -- with big *snapping* noises like those bug zappers make (no offense, bugmeat).
*playbite*
