This post brought to you by today's cheese: Queso dip. Go heat some up & bring on the chips.
I lvoe Christmas Eve. It was always when I went to Grandma's as a kid. My mom was an only child, so us three grandchildren got spoiled to death. We usually had lasagne or pizza to eat & then opened gifts. On the way home I was always checking the sky for Rudolph. When we'd get home, I'd check the tree for presents & then the backyard for sleigh and reindeer tracks. I didn't know how it happened until later years, but the neighbors would come down with their skis and dog to make tracks for us. How cute is that?
My fun evening was always interuppted by my oldest sister getting stuck in a ditch with her car it seems. I think it only happened three times, but hey, that was enough. It delayed opening my stocking. My parents usually let us open those before bed & then saved presents for morning.
My favorite present memories: Stereo, Cabbage Patch Kids, Cabbage Patch Kid playpen, Atari (it was used, but I didn't care), Barbie & the Rockers...plus the cool stage (although my racist Grandma refused to buy me the black doll...I though she was the pretiest one). Props to my Snoopy Snow Cone maker and Easy Bake Oven, too.
I always hated going to church Christmas day. I liked the Christmas Eve services much better. It seemed more peaceful & meaningful. Plus, I just wanted to play on Christmas day.
Tonight we'll do our family tradition since Mom & Grandma both passed away. We go to my sister's house for appetizers, drinks, presents and games. Tomorrow Chris and I will sleep, watch movies with our cats and play with his new present from me: a deep fryer. I've resisted the deep fryer for at least two years. This year I gave in. *sigh*

Welcome to blogland!
We currently have a fridge of cheese (nice old chedder, shropshire blue, two types of brie, truffle cheese, bavarian farmers cheee, blue cheese and cheese with bonus cheese on top)
I love Christmas.
Merry Christmas Weltek and welcome to Blog Land.
I honestly am beginning to think we were seperated at birth. Married to very similar men, enjoy many of the same things and you got the same damn presents!!! And I had a racist grandma too.
*shakes head*
Oh, and Christmas Eve services? Are the.best.
Welcome to blogland...we are so happy to have you!
As a child, I lvoed Christmas but as an adult it is very different. In the past few years I have lost interest as my nephews are all men now and we don't have a kid around to see all the excitement.
However, we do still have the treasure hunt for a present every year and my nephews really get into that.
OMH! I avoided the deep fryer until last year. My sister got me one for Christmas and I LVOE IT! So quick and easy. Venture out and explore...it is worth it.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
BTW...can I link you in my blog?
Ha! I don't want a deep fryer either. Maybe if we made more deep-fried things...or maybe we'd make more if we had one, which would be so bad for DH's cholesterol. 2 meds and it's still high enough that his doc wants to add another. Yick.
Merry Christmas, weltek and Nolay!
*hugs*
*reminiscent sigh* I remember when Cabbage Patch kids were the BIG thing. :)
Can I link you, too?
Cute idea about the skis and dog! Christmas Eve was always my favorite day of the year. Seemed so much more fun and meaningful than Christmas Day.
All the anticipation and stuff!
Merry Christmas to you!
Who is this "Chris" and does Nolay know that you are cheating on him?
Love the dogs/ski idea!
Wow! It must be that all us midwesterners went to Grandma's for lasagna on Christmas Eve.
*smooch*
I remember Christmas at Grandma's. Only we had to drive out to Virginia and it was our Grandfather who would go out and make the Santa noises and tracks for us.
I miss being a kid.
*smooch*
Yay!!! Weltek's here!
