Serving flambe'd Kaseri cheese! Something fancy for my topic today.
I've been toiling about what to get Nolay for Valentine's Day. Gifts are weird for guys for Valentine's Day. Especially him. I can never really tell if he likes a gift unless it's something he's specifically asked for.
I feel, given our bad 2005 relationship year, we need to DO something romantic. So I decided, since we work our pt job til 10 that night and usually have a 45 minute drive home, I'd get a hotel room in Madison for the night. Might spark some romance we've been sorely lacking. So I went on priceline & got a 3-star hotel (Radisson) for $35. It's right near his work, so we can sleep in on Wed. a.m.
Now, of course, I'm second guessing my idea. Is this something that only women would appreciate? How can I make this something he really appreciates? I think I'll keep it a secret & pack a bag without him knowing. I'll slip him the key during work on Tues. night.
Anything I can do to the room ahead of time that is cheap, yet romantic? I'm thinking a bottle of wine (could do champagne, although might waste some...I don't need a hangover). If I work hard, I could make a romantic cd & bring a cd boombox to the room. Not sure MTV or the clock radio would be the most romantic. :-)
Wish I could've afforded a whirlpool suite. Maybe in the morning we can hit the hotel whirlpool.

I love the idea. Don't forget bubbles.
I think if you include something sexy to wear, (something new) that he will be very happy with it. The boombox and a little wine is a good idea too, but good sex is cheaper. *grin*
Great idea, Kim!
Definitely get something new he's never seen to wear and then have the floor wear. It sounds very nice. I'm sure he'll like it.
Lingerie.
The CD Player.
A couple of candles.
I have no advice on men. *grin*
What a great idea Kim!
Ok, carey. Put on your flannel & pretend.
Gaaaah!
I burnt muh wips und tougue
Gaaah!
I think that sounds great, some extra sleep, a little extra romance and it's a bit different, I think nights out are something guys enjoy as well.
Does he ever bring work home or anything like that? It would suck to have stuff at home he needed. If there is any chance of that, it might be worth springing the surprise a bit early. If not, I love the hotel key idea.
Oh Bob, what are we going to do with you? You can't eat the cheese until the fire burns out.
Nope, he never has anything odd needed at home. I can prepack the bag & hide it in the trunk. I'll have to slip his toiletries in at the last minute, but that shouldn't be a problem.
And I thought the surpise hotel key slip at work would be a little sexy.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm I may have to try that out on my own DH LOL.
I like this idea a lot. The key-slipping thing is sexy. Will you have had dinner before the PT job? You could maybe have dessert with the wine or something.
How nice.
That is such a fabulous idea! If he doesn't love it, he's crazy! (...and I will tell him so!)
You are such a thoughtful wife! I just hope he doesn't plan something for you at home!
I couldn't trust myself to pick out hubby's clothes for the next day.
Wait! how you gonna get the room keys if he has the car?
He's a guy, right? If he doesn't LOVE your idea, you have bigger problems than Valentine's Day.
I would give up use of my legs for three weeks if my DW did something like that for me....lingerie = good. Taking charge of him in bed = very good.
PS - You wrote Not sure MTV or the clock radio would be the most romantic. :-). I read it as MTW or the clock radio...
I am *definitely* more romantic than a clock radio. Sadly, DW isn't
Heck yeah, he will dig it. Especially if you make it filled with some adventure.
*lobstah pinch*
Have fun!
Sounds good to me! What I can't get over is how you got a hotel room for $35 at the Radisson.
You can't even get an hourly motel for that around here.
How about a little motion lotion?
I can't add anything that others haven't already said...great idea.
Zombs, maybe she just rented it for the hour?
NOT rented by the hour, tyvm. :-p
