I understand the smacking of food is not just an Asian thing, but yeeegads, there are some Asians that have it down to a science where you can hear it from another freaking room. My friend Mark also smacks his food. He is not Asian, but rather a farm kid that grew up in a big household of boys. I suspect chewing slowly and quietly wasn't a focus growing up. I spent the weekend with Mark and his wife, and now just encountered a smacking Asian.
What is your intolerance d'jour?
And parents? Please teach your children to chew quietly. *looks pleadingly*

This drives me nuts! I do not want to hear you eating, I do not want to see what you are eating while it is in your mouth, I do not want to have anything to do with your chewing, swallowing, biting, slurping or lip smacking.
This includes those who scrape their teeth along their forks, lick their fingers, and burp (not the accidental burps we all do, but those done with purpose).
Bad table manners drives me bonkers and is probably at the top of my list intolerance list.
This also include gum snapping and bubble blowing (which I am suffering through now because I've been in a mandatory all day class since last week and there are several snappers and blowers).
OMH, Augie, I can totally sympathize with the gum thing. It makes me want to crawl out of my skin and scream.
LOL. At first I thought this was about gum.
Conner is still learning to chew with his mouth closed. One would think that "I" of all people would have made that a priority.
The fact that he sucks in his runny nose instead of blowing it drives me more batty than the chewing thing.
I also cannot tolerate whining, messy work, poor grammar/writing skills in a professional setting, and parents who mass produce children - whether they can afford them (the Duggars) or not (Octomom).
I hate the teeth scraping on the fork thing, too. Or when people clank their silverware on plates. Once or twice on accident, fine, but constant clanking drives me bonkers.
I really hate it when people use a napkin, wad it up, and throw it on the plate. I always fold my used napkin and tuck it under the plate.
Gum is evil. Did you know that gum is against the law in Singapore? You can't bring it into the country. They got tired of scraping it off of stuff.
Lol -food smacking can be so gross! My least favorite eating sound of all time is the sound of someone sucking the eyeballs out of a (cooked, prepared) fish. It's not the loudest sound but quite distinctive, especially since it occurs twice in pretty quick succession. *shivers at the memory*
I remember hearing that gum is against the law in Singapore. There was some issue about cleanliness when the Amazing Race went to Singapore.
I have a friend who can't stand when people chew their ice from cold drinks.
Mr. Puffy took his mom out to lunch on Saturday. He said her manners and way of eating really fast, with huge forkfulls, was atrocious.
My son sits next to me at our dinner table, often I have to tell him to close his mouth whilst chewing... got to start him being quiet so he doesn't embarrass himself when he starts dating... (he's 15!!)(
