One down, two to go

We had Christmas at FIL's this weekend. They really are wonderful people, but good-golly, retirement makes FIL a little overbearing. I ate too much, but at least didn't drink too much. My favorite new gift? A Teavana Perfect Tea Maker:

You put the loose tea in the cup, pour boiling water over it, steep, set the maker over your coffee cup and it drops down. No bits (*waves at MC*) in my cup and no drips. Chris remembered how much I coveted it when we went to Mall of America recently. Step-MIL was heading to Mall of America, so Chris slipped her a gift tip for me. Voila! Can you even believe he remembered!?

I have a pumpkin scone to eat this a.m. Mmmmm.

I sent 75% of my holiday cards this a.m. I'll finish the rest tonight. I also sent out cookies to my bloggy peep today!

Watched The Proposal. One of those cute, silly movies. And you get a nice, long look at shirtless Ryan Reynolds. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Ever seen There Will be Blood? Thinking of taking that to Christmas with MIL, but not sure if it's one of those with lots of uncomfortable scenes for family viewing.

ETA: Funny thing at the doctor's office Friday (annual exam). The nurse says, "Have you recently had a large fluctuation in weight????" My answer was no. Apparetly they had me down at a completely random 123 last time (add 70 to that and it was probably accurate). We had a good laugh. Another interesting thing from my visit. I started getting mammograms last year because of family history, but my doctor said, "I'm concerned that you are so young and that's a lot of radiation to be exposing you to in your lifetime. Let's send you to a specialist to see if a baseline MRI would be best, and then less frequent mammograms." I think that makes a lot of sense. We are in agreement about self-exams still being important and we reviewed propper technique. I was happy about that.

DD and I liked The Proposal... mmmmmm shirtless Ryan...

DBF and I watched Inglorious Bastards over the weekend, it gave me a headache and I didn't enjoy it. I don't enjoy movies I have to read. If I wanted to read, I'd pick up my book.

Never seen There Will Be Blood, but the title doesn't lend to a "family" movie.

I think I am going to buy The Hangover. I also want to see The Proposal.

LOL about your doctor's visit.

That tea thing looks cool. I've declared a moratorium on new gadgets until I can purge all of the ones that I never use, but that thing is very interesting.

I like when doctors really tailor your healthcare to you rather than just following a guideline. It makes so much more sense. I love, love, love my ob/gyn for that exact reason.

I love my bits!

I'll second fro on the healthcare being tailored. Sounds like you got a good one there.

I'd like to go to your doctor's office and lose a few pounds on my chart.

I will NOT be telling Tom about the Teavana. Although I guess it could marry his french coffee press and they could live happily together in my kitchen cupboard.

I saw Avatar and was totally blown away by it. Such a good movie!

You have a smart doctor.

Mmmmm - pumpkin scones...
