People seem to wear certain acts on their sleeves like a badge. For example, "I don't do Facebook" or "I don't eat beef." They seem to take every chance to bring it up they can.
So, what do you seem to wear like a badge, or what annoys you about someone else?
I worry I use my "I'm in school" like a badge sometimes, but I use it as an excuse (albiet a valid one), not because it's a pride thing. Hell, around here I'm in the minority that I don't have a graduate degree of some sort and it's not something I like to bring up.

I'll still take the "I've only got one arm" badge. I have a new contraption that I have to wear during the day to try to straighten this puppy out.
Geez, Boo. I can't believe you are still having arm issues! You deserve a badge.
It really is much improved, but still not fixed. It sucks, but it could be worse.
My badge is "I work from home." I feel compelled to mention it all the time because otherwise I'm afraid that people forget that I still have a full-time job. Particularly people I work with. And my husband.
"I don't do Facebook" annoys me but it's probably because I was one of those people until I caved. :)
"I never take a sick day" annoys me, too. If you're sick, you should take a day and if you never get sick, you're a lucky person.
My mom is fond of telling me that she had it hard when we were kids because there were three of us and my dad traveled all the time. Yes, she did. I remind her that I have a full time job, and she didn't, so my challenges are not necessarily better or worse, but different.
Ooh, I forgot about the "I never take a sick day." Chris does that sometimes and it annoys me. He's gotten better over the last few years.
I understand the "work from home" thing, Fro. It makes sense.
I thought of another one: "I'm busy" as an excuse for not doing stuff. I think we're all busy.
The primary offender on this was a guy I used to work with. He was laid off about a month and a half ago and I picked up several of his projects. None of the projects has a terrible amount of work involved, a few repetitive tasks and some weekly reports that I don't enjoy doing but only take about an hour to put together.
This guy was ALWAYS saying how busy he was.
So I picked up his tasks, and I was a little surprised that it's been pretty painless to work them into my schedule.
THEN as I'm figuring out all the stuff he used to do? I find out that other people had been doing these things for him. I asked one of our customer service people a question and she said "Oh, do you want me to contact the client with the list - I used to do that for E." Uh, sure.
Today I asked for some help sending out certificates (I can't print them at home yet) and one of my coworkers piped up that she'd do it for me, that she used to do them for E.
So WHAT WAS HE DOING? That only leaves the weekly report task, and as I said, that takes me one hour a week.
I was a little surprised that he was laid off but now I understand.
Sorry. I went off a little, there.
No apology needed-I completely agree.
I have been on a committee for the last two years with people that are ALWAYS too busy to pull their fair share. Every.single.meeting it's "Sorry I didn't get to that, I've been so busy...." I'm generally a one woman committee. Although since I am chair this year (which I stated I will do one year, then others should take their turn...I'm not falling for the "but you are doing such a good job, it's an honor" thing), I did get more heavy handed about assigning tasks. I just have to constantly follow up and half the time do something myself because "they are just too busy."
I don't think I harp on certain acts too much, either irl or online. Do I do that? But I would love a pretty badge! I want a sparkly one, maybe with garnets, and I would wear it on my chest not my arm because skating badges are what goes on your sleeve.
So glad I didn't ask for the "busy" badge. *grin*
I do find that I say "I'm busy" often, but I am. I think that's just how I live.
I have no problem with "I'm busy" as a way of life. I say it, too.
But "I'm busy" as an excuse annoys me because it basically saying "I prioritized the things I have to do and you don't rank." That's fine, if that's the case but I don't want to hear it after something was supposed to be finished.
I'm mostly talking about work people using it, too.
Are there any badges left? *holds out hand
*gives Tummy the I WAS LAID OFF AND WORKED SUPER HARD TO GET A JOB BADGE* You can proudly wear that. Seriously. I'm in awe of you and your determination.
