What a horrible weekend, weather-wise. We headed up to northern WI to visit my MIL. It was high's in the 50s and rainy most of the weekend. Yuck!
My MIL was nice enough to research things to do if it was rainy...or we could sit with her and play old games she "dug up." When I say old, I mean board games with musty smell and missing pieces...board games you've probably never heard of before. So, we headed out for the afternoon. We went to a small town "Oktoberfest in August." It was actually fun. Old people drinking and singing crack me up. We also had a big piece of black forest cake that was uber yummy.
We stopped at a bar that served deep fried, breaded brat bites. Yes, we tried them with some of the hottest mustard I've ever tasted. My heart is still beating this morning. Yay!
We brought a load of granite rocks home to continue our flowerbed border around the house. I need about three more loads in the Jeep to finish it off. That means it will be next summer before it's done.
This week and next will be tomato processing hell. I made a batch of spaghetti sauce that's too spicy (I know, even for me), so I need to run more tomatoes through my mill tonight to add to it.
We'll be able to make a fresh batch of salsa this weekend to munch on. Yum!
We have Sirius radio in the Jeep, and like to listen to crazy talk radio on long trips. Well we found a doozie yesterday!
What's a Woman to Do
Oh my cod. I seriously felt like ripping the receiver from our dash and throwing it out the window. You really must listen. Your jaw will drop.

Was it just you and Chris visiting? I'm glad she found something fun for you to do. Was she one of the drunken singers?
What did you add to spaghetti sauce to make it too spicey? Did you inadvertently mix it up with your salsa recipe?
Did I miss you visit with MC?
And we had a lovely weekend! A bit cool, with the highs just reaching 70 - but that's the way I like it!
I still like to play Snakes & Ladders. They call it Chutes & Ladders now - and sliding down the stupid chutes is not nearly as much fun as sliding down a slithery, slidey snake.
Oktoberfest is my least favorite calendar event, because I don't like beer and Germanic drunks are just not amusing enough for good people watching. The drunken Irish on St Paddy's Day are way more fun, and know more jokes too!
Just reading about those brat bites caused my bad cholesterol level to spike!
Rock borders look great but only if you week whack them every single time you mow. So they are not low maintenance. I still like 'em though.
A little sugar can cut a lot of fire too - as I am sure you well know...
I hate all talk radio. Mr Swami loves it. I will forward your recommendation to him. Or is that a bad idea?
OMG - Chip Ingram. What a tool.
I got 5 minutes into Part 2 and had to turn it off.
How's that leather polishing coming along? :P
Swami, I don't recommend Mr. Swami listen to Chip. There's a lot about the woman "preparing the home" for the husband and needing women to look pretty for their husbands when he comes home from work or he'll "start to look elsewhere."
And yes, I must weed whack more now with my rocks. :-(
Boo-MC visits this weekend!!! I put what I thought were mild banana peppers into the sauce, but it turned out to be hot hungarian wax. I'd taken the seeds & membranes out, but they were still hot hot hot.
*guilty look* I have some of those old musty smelling board games with missing pieces.
