Cheesy hashbrown casserole today. I'm in the mood for comfort food.
So, as you may have read, the trip north got cancelled. I spent the night at SIL's house, having some good girl chatter. Drove back home in the morning, during the snowstorm. Yipe! I had one moment of terror: I got to the bottom of a large hill on a small highway. There were two cars with brake lights on ahead and a snowplow in front of them. Figured they were just slowing down for the plow. Nope. The plow was BACKING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. There were cars in the other lane and no passable shoulder. So me and the two other cars were forced to back down the highway to the county road nearby. Meanwhile, in my rearview mirror I see a semi truck coming down the hill behind me. Ack! I hit my flashers and hoped he could slow on time. I said outloud "I think I'm going to die." Thank cod he was able to slow and the stupid arashole plow truck driver got pulled off. Then the stupid highway wasn't plowed in my lane and the poor Neon had a terrible time. I got to the next town and pulled off until a plow came through. No way I was chancing it any longer, and I'm a pretty confident snow driver.
Anyway, so we had lots of relaxation time this weekend. Chris got to plow, I got to take a bath (omh, the scent of Twinkle was amazing!), bake chocolate chip cookies and write about 1/2 of my Christmas cards. Yay!
I will be doing my holiday baking on Dec. 13th and will mail my cookie exchange stuff out on the 14th, just so peeps know. I know what I want to do for secrect santa, but need to go to a craft store. Yep, I'm crafting! Yikes! Be very afraid.

You do realize the 13th is a Thursday, right? Aren't you working that day?
I'm going to attempt my baking this coming weekend, but I have NO idea what kinds of cookies I want to make. Eek!
Yay for relaxation time! I finally got quite a bit of that yesterday. I needed it before I killed the kids.
I almost always take a day off each year to get together with my sisters and Christmas bake. We drink wine, snack and make cookies all day. This year I only get from 11:00 onward off, due to a meeting, but my 12 year old niece is also joining us this year in the afternoon. She has electives in the afternoon, so her mom agreed to bust her out of school early. Should be fun!
I think I'm making sugar cookies, peanut blossoms (the Kiss cookies), peanut butter balls and macaroons.
Ooooh! That sounds like a fun tradition.
How many cookies are we supposed to make and send? I forgot...and I'm feeling slightly lazy and don't want to go hunt Breezy's blog. *snort*
I think it's 2 dozen.
I am baking on the 16th and shipping on the 17th. I will probably watch football while I bake. That may or may not be a good thing for my victims.
I need to do my SS gift. I think I know what I'm doing. It should be easy. I like my person a bunch. They do not post in blogland that I know about.
And, I sent my funny mail last week. I guess I should start a thread about that.
I always think I'm going to save a day up for holiday baking. I have one day to get me through the year. I think I'm going to have to wait until the 20th just to be safe. At least I'm off on the 24th, 25th and 26th!
*Don't laugh* It was very cold here on Friday (48 degrees). It was pouring rain. Lucky Mr. Puffy got to stay home and work. I had to drive to work to 3 different locations. I actually was supposed to drive to 4, but I was so worn out from driving in the rain, that I cancelled the 4th job. Because I was late to the first location, because Californians don't know how to drive in the rain, I was late all day long. If it had been snowing, work would have been cancelled for sure. *big smile*
Coincidence - I pulled my little Stouffer's meal out of the freezer for lunch...I'm having a cheesy potato casserole.
Aww, the poor Californians and the rain! *does dramatic Jan Brady*
*giggle* Yep, that's what life is like in snow land. Some lucky peeps stay home, some trudge slowly.
Boo-I bet your gift will be better than mine.
I baked last night, I need to do some more before I mail though. *evil grin*
Well, well, well. Look at who is Little Miss Overachiever.
Weeeeeee! Mine went out on Saturday. Look out west of the Mississippi! I thought we were supposed to send two dozen of each. Oh well. More for you guys. Oooh! I also sent t-shirts just for fun. :)
P.S. As fun as staying home may sound? After a month or so, it absolutely, uneqivocably BLOWS. Just sayin.
OOOOOOH!!! Lookee who came out of hiding!!!
*waves to tkit*
*stands with Momma and waves to tkit*
WTF was the snowplow doing, backing down a highway? Couldn't it just plow the stuck cars off the road or something? Sheesh. I got to hear my anti-lock brakes go clicky-clicky twice today. I love antilock brakes. (I forgot you drove a Neon. Or I never knew or something.)
I am baking on the 15th abd 16th because that is the only way there will be cookies left for over the holiday. (I missed the blogcookie deadline so my family has to eat them all this year.)
I tried to go to the post office today. I drove by 3 different post offices and ALL were totally jammed, with full parking lots. I decided I would NOT go wait in line. Sisters can just wait a day or two for their gifts.
*shudder* given that I have some Canadian shipping this year, I'll be braving those lines. *crrrrryyyyyy*
Tkit, look at it this way. You are probably way ahead of the crowds for shopping at such this time of year and you can enjoy the season!
*runs and tackles Tkit*
*smooch*
Oh ya bunch of baking maniacs.
I don't bake. It's too scientific.
Plus whenever I expres interest in any sort of baking implement or machine, Carlos says "What do you need that for? You don't bake."
Scary times on the highway, Kim. Glad to see you're back snug as a bug.
