Bar Food

Broccoli cheese bites today. Those were on the menu last night. I didn't get them, but would've enjoyed them.

We went out to a hick bar with friends last night. It was called the Keg n' Kettle. *giggle* Know what I like about hick bars? It was $15 for 2 meals & a pitcher of beer. I wanted to have a pizza burger (it's one of those foods from my youth that I get excited about when I see them on menus), but they were out of them, so I had a grilled ham & cheese. It was nicely done on marble rye. For $2.50. Chris had a mushroom & swiss burger for I believe $3.50. They had a bunch of styles of fries and other deep fried wonders...plus soft pretzels. Yum! So I ate my steak fries and sammich and was very full. *burp*

I love good fancy food, but man do I also love decent, cheap bar food.

Bar food can be some of the best food. And, you can't beat $15 for two meals and beer.

What exactly is a pizza burger?

Oh, Nookie! I'd LOVE to tell you about pizza burgers!

They are a thin burger made with ground beef & sausage. There are pizza seasonings & sauce mixed in to the meat and a glob of mozzarella stuffed in the middle of the meat. The ones we used to get from the grocery store were then basted in pizza sauce & topped with seasoned, shredded mozzarella cheese, too.

*droool* And I don't really like burgers.

Aside from the glob of cheese in the middle, it sounds yummy.

*gasp! takes away tray of broccoli cheese bites*

Well, normally I love globs of cheese. Just not sure I'd want to eat one that was put in the middle of raw meat.

I had a turkey & swiss on marble rye today. One of the guys picked it out of his box and said, "what the heck kind of bread is this. I don't eat swirly looking bread."

I've never had a pizza burger. And I love Broccoli Bites. TGIFridays used to have them. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Score for Boo! I had chicken noodle soup and a whole grain baguette piece from panera. I'm really sick of everytime coworkers want to go out it's to Panera. My Panera love is fading.

I bet Breezy knows all the best bar food along the lake.

Sometimes there are lots of things in the bar that are good and cheap.

And sometimes they are bad and expensive.

HUNGRY!

That's pretty darn cheap, Kim. Whenever food is too cheap I wonder, what corners have they cut? What am I really eating here?

I have never been to Panera. I have never had a pizza burger.

Kim, your middle name is Amy, isn't it?

*WHACKS Carey*

I didn't steal ALL the brocoli bites.

What is with this sistah abuse I am taking from everyone today?

*runs to corner to sob*

It's been so long since I've been in a bar I can't even join in this conversation.

*takes broccoli cheese bites*

Yummy!

Little did I know we should've bar hopped in Niagara for Seana's sake.

Swami...it's Ann (*snoooooooooze*) and I know what corners these bars cut: barely working toilets, only family as staff, dirty floors, partially functioning lighting. Luckily, the two places I go for really cheap bar food, the grills are viewable from the bar stools. :-)

Jason went to by some bratwurst yesterday in his cafeteria, and the lights around the grill exploded, raining glass everywhere. So he decided to pass.

kim (weltek) said...

See? Proof that you are only supposed to buy brats in Wisconsin or Germany.

Bravie said...

I'm a brat. And? I'm German. :)

But? You're not for sale.

Right?

Around here a pizza burger is a hamburger with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella over it, all on a bun. Like a hamburger parmesan. You people up there make your food very strangely.
