Aromatherapy

Bel Paese cheese and pears today. Wine service starts in ten minutes.

I think I'm going to buy some essential oils to to play with & get me to sleep better. I re-read some sections of the little book Breezy gave me for our OT Secret Santa & have some oils picked out. I also gave myself a foot massage from that book last night.

Has anyone here worked with essential oils before?

In other news, I want to make chinese food tonight. I'm going to find a recipe for General Tso's sauce (but I'll sautee' the chicken & some veggies, so it won't be real GT chicken).

"Ah, General Tso, you were a formidable opponent, but your chicken is delectable!"...Mr. Burns

You are sounding a little too much like my SIL with these oils. *smirk*

I have a salt lamp she gave us to clean the air. I have stickers on my microwave and on Conner's door that are suppose to make my food taste better and bring wealth and health. All because SIL said so.

I don't know much about oils, but I have used some sort of pillow spray before that helps me to relax as I lay my head down. Not sure if it helps me sleep better, but it is relaxing.

And I bet a foot massage would also help me rest.

Your sister sounds crazy. I would mix the oils with water & mist them on my pillow, too. Maybe add some to my sheets in the laundry (as the book suggested).

Watch out for skin reactions. Some of those oils are really strong. I know I've had some essential oils accidentally come in contact with my skin and OWIE.

But I've got stupidly sensitive skin so it may be a moot point.

Yow! I will be careful!

SIL! SIL!

This is the woman who tried to cure cancer with herbs, who drove my MIL to Atlanta to see Dr. Woo, who almost convinced MIL to fly to Switzerland for some sort of surgery, who took her dogs to "dog shrinks," and is certified in "light therapy."

Oh yeah, and who mentioned that she could move into my shed while she waits for the Estate to settle.

Funny, sounds like she could use some "heavy therapy."

I have nothing. I know nothing of oils. Except you should change it every 3000 miles.

Tom dabbles in essential oils and various aroma therapy carp. I'm not quite convinced. I did have to ask him to quit spraying so much lavender on his pillow. The strong scent was keeping me awake at night, lol.

I think people who do a bunch of essential oil stuff can't smell diddly. I can smell trace amounts of so many things and I always feel awash in scents, so the strong essential oils are just too much for me.

Tom gives a most excellent foot rub. To humor him, I let him use jojoba oil or tea tree gel or some other stuff from his cornucopia of carp. I just love the rubbing! And my feet are the farthest body part from my nose.

*giggles at Carey*

That reminds me of my very first oil change ever. I was 18, and I knew you were supposed to change it at 3000. And I had my eye on the odometer and as soon as I hit 3000, I literally pulled off the road and into the first service station I found for my oil change.

I'm afraid this was just the beginning of my being taken advantage of in the car repair department.

Ah, Boo. I swear every teenager should be able to take "Car Care 101" in high school. Maybe Chris and I can start offering that to our community members. Of course, I'll have to be the assistant because I don't know very much. I have replaced spark plugs with his guidance, though. I felt pretty good about that.

Ooooh, I could teach the portion about dusting and vacuuming the interior.
