Cheese Stew

A few randoms for today:

1) A male friend called for advice last night. He's not a player at all, but a rather odd fellow. He loves musicals, antiquing, showtunes, quirky movies and tv shows, and has an overall odd sense of humor. He's done the online dating thing, but recently has dated women met through others. He went on a date with our friend's gynocologist, but there was no love connection. She did, however, set him up with a coworker in her office. The coworker came over last week for a casual date at his house (I thought it was weird to have a first date at his house), and ended up having sex. Both said it was out of their character to do that on the first date. He texted her the day after to say he had a nice time. She had said when she left that night that she was out of town for a graduation all weekend, but would call when she got back. As of last night, she has not called, texted or emailed. Isn't that weird?!

2) Our first charity pancake breakfast of the spring season is this weekend. We've made a fun tradition of meeting friends for pancake breakfasts about four times per year from May-August.

3) Chris is having coworkers and such over for a brewing day on Saturday. That means we need to get the garage and house clean.

4) We hung blinds in our bathroom last night. Tonight we have the big front kitchen window to tackle. Shouldn't be hard, though. They are 2" composite blinds that look like wood. We went with composite because a) they were cheaper, but still looked very nice in natural maple and b) in the bathroom the moisture content is high and real wood wasn't recommended (also recommended for the kitchen, but our kitchen has really good ventilation, so not a moisture issue). They look very nice and I'm happy I can be nekkid while people are in my backyard. The kitchen one we bedgrudgingly did because the view of sunsets is great, but in the summer the sunsets can be blinding at dinnertime and blazing on the tv screen. This fall I think we'll order more for other windows.

5) Classes are finished for the semester, but work is very hectic at least until or latest grant proposal goes in on the 22nd. Classes start again the first week of June. I'll be taking one day a week as vacation this summer to work on homework.

1) It's a bit weird but first call-backs after sex is often weirdness time.

2) Charity? You mean like those Fireman's or Lion's Club pancake breakfasts? I have never been to one.

3) Wasn't brewing day a big mess last year? Or am I remembering wrong?

4) We have hung blinds a few times. And by "we" I mean Tom.

5) Is this part of your state-mandated "vacation" furlough?

1. Did gyno set him up with a "professional", per chance?

2. I can make blueberry pancakes that I'm very proud of - but only in that "in my own kitchen" kind of way. I would dread to have to make pancakes for others.

3. This would be like Making Tomato Sauce Day? Always messy but always fun. Unless you're the one who has to clean up the mess. Can't one of Chris' friends host?

4. Window treatments - don't get me goin' about window treatments.

5. What Swami asked ^^

My one day off per week will not be for the furlough. Furloughs start effective July 1, and I'm not going to four unpaid days into one month. I have over 3 weeks vacation a year, so I'll use those, maybe have one as a furlough day.

Brewing day is messy, but he's been good about cleaning up lately. I just hope I don't have to play hostess all day, since it's his thing and it's about watching the brewing process. Hopefully that leaves me free to do other things.

And yep, the pancake breakfasts are like ones for the Lion's Club, etc. This weekend it's an Airport Flying Club fundraiser.

1. I don't find it weird at all. DH and my first date was at his house and you know.

2. Mmmmms. This sounds really yummy.

3. I like that you say "we" in that sentence. Keep it that way.

4. We have those kind of blinds. I was very happy they came with the house.

5. That is no vacation. I'm glad you have at least a couple of weeks before you start again.

Interesting about the hook up situation. I don't know what to make of it. I'd give her more time before writing her off.

I think we have the same blinds, but in white. Very nice!

Vacation days = homework? :(

I want to remind you how much I enjoy the blogland CD's that you made for us. I miss our missing peeps who submitted songs. Thanks again for doing this last year.
