I feel like I should write something

I really don't have much interesting to say right now, but it's time for an update.

  1. I'm in the home stretch of classes for the semester. Undergoing a few more revisions to my thesis/grant proposal and starting my last "regular" class the first week of May. I have another "portfolio" class this summer, but it's kind of an oddball. Then I'll be done! Just three more months!

  2. The weather is pretty good in WI for this time of year. We've had a few days in the 80s this month. We could use a little bit of rain this week, but none is in sight. Temps seem to be settling in around the low 60s right now.

  3. I'm starting to pack away my winter clothes and haul out the summer. It's that odd time of year where you still need some of both seasons.

  4. I have a piece of furniture from FIL to bring in the house today and find a spot for it. I'm not even entirely sure what it is. Part cabinet, part display case..I have only seen it in the back of the Jeep in the dark, as Chris and FIL loaded it yesterday. Added pic:

  5. We finally bought a GPS unit. I know, just when everyone is using cell plans with GPS type services, we dive into a Garmin. That's us, about five years behind the technology curve.

  6. My favorite TV host, Zane Lamprey of Three Sheets (a drinking/travel show) is on tour. We have seats to his Milwaukee show this summer. I read about it when I was in Milwaukee for work last week, and didn't check the whole tour schedule before I bought tickets to his Milwaukee show. Turns out, he's in Madison the day before. Doh!

  7. I moved offices at work voluntarily. I'm giving up the 25% of my job that's in the research admin office and just focusing on my boss's research. Thus, I decided to move my office out of our research admin area, which meant giving up my window. I found a coworker that was a nice "fit" with research admin, even though she's under a different area (kind of a "partner" unit), who really wanted a window. She has a great carpeted office with really nice, expansive wood cabinets and desk. Thus, we switched last week and everyone is happy.

That's all I've got.

1. By 'done' do you mean all done, or done until Fall semester?

2. I'm loving spring so far!

3. I never do that seasonal pack-away thing. I just have a big armoire & dresser with summer drawers and winter drawers.

4. I hope it looks good by the light of day!

5. GPS seems like a cool thing in the city but in my rural area it just shows a whole lot of not very much.

6. Lol.

7. See, I hate windowless spaces. I just feel trapped. But the new furniture sounds very cool!

1. Ditto Swami.

2. We have had crazy weather. Crazy meaning needing heat at night, AC during the day. I resisted the AC for as long as I could and broke down Friday night when the upstairs temp was 86. Maybe I'm pre-menopausal or something because I thought I was absolutely going to die.

3. I now have enough storage for my whole family that we can keep everything out - no packing away, no pulling down. The only thing I have to do now is sort through Conner's clothes to see what he's outgrown.

4. Why do you have this new furniture? We have Michael's father's dresser in the closet of the room you slept in. It's a nice "old" dresser, but it doesn't match anything we have, and I wonder why we have it. I guess because Michael wanted it. At least it's not in the way.

5. We have a Garman, not going to be getting any fancy phone device. I've decided that I'm not that important that I have to have a blackberry ro whatever elese people have decided they need these days.

6. Oh no. Enjoy your drive.

7. Again, I will ditto Swami. I don't know that I could ever go back to having no windows. I am very spoiled by my view. One day I will have to take a picture and post it.

Yep, really DONE-100 degreed in August!

I just find I really don't care about a window at work. I think it bugs me more in the winter, not knowing what the weather is doing.

I added the pic of the new cabinet. FIL didn't have room at their new, little house and wanted it to go to a good home. I think it's his wife's (post divorce), so it's nice she entrusted it to us.

I like that piece of furniture. It's antiquey looking. I move my winter and summer clothes back and forth to opposite sides of the closet. But they only amount to a few pairs of pants and about 10 tops.

Now I'm interested in the colors of your dining room walls. On my monitor they look like 1 avocado-ish green and 1 orange. A very retro combination.

I like the cabinet, btw.

Yep, those are the colors, believe it or not. They were inspired by my sister's coworker, who is a trained colorist, and many Frank Lloyd Wright items in the house. I have a "chianti" red in the kitchen, dark tan in the four season, a darker green in the bedroom and they all go pretty well together.
