When did we turn 80?

My friend Mel, the one diagnosed with breast cancer recently, commented "When did we all turn 80? I could've sworn just last month we were all in our 30s?" Chris joins her on the sick people's couch (her hubby also is just getting over H1N1!) and goes in for surgery soon for his insanely broken shoulder.

What does this mean for us?

1. I have to drive myself to work, which isn't a big deal except I don't have anywhere to park. My options are to park about a mile away and walk, park a mile away and ride the bus, or pay $10/day to park at work. I'll be doing a combo of walking and bussing, depending on the weather.

2. I have to adjust grocery and meals. With him being home, but unable to cook, I need to make some adjustments. Not to mention his bloodwork results recently suggest we need to make adjustments.

3. I'm going to have a bored husband when I get home from work. This is a slight issue because I am starting my other class this week, so I'll have homework at least 5 out of 7 days to tend to, progressively more as the semester goes on.

4. We rejoined Netflix last night.

5. The cats are going to get really spoiled by having a person around all the time.

6. I have to juggle some meetings around, but I'll also take some time to work at home, which can be good.

Owww! Sorry about Chris. But I know what your friend Mel means! I have aches and pains I've only heard old people complain about. Good thoughts for all of you.

1. Ugh.

2. Hey, Top Chef's can cook with one hand tied behind their backs, I'm sure Chris is up to the Quick Fire.

3. I have no suggestions, just sympathy.

4. I've been thinking about Netflix. Just thinking.

5. Yep.

6. Maybe some one-armed afternoon delights? Hey, I'm trying to look on the bright side of things.

Michael was home for a total of 6 hours yesterday sick. I shudder at what any longer would have done.

Sorry Chris. That sucks.

1. I will cross my fingers for you weather wise. I guess I should no longer complain about our new work neighbors who seem to be taking every single parking spot in our section.

2. Ruh Roh. I take this to mean he doesn't get frozen pizza everyday.

3. Oooh, someone who can challenge Tummy in Pathwords.

4. Dexter.

5. Yep.

6. I get the feeling you'll be juggling a lot more.

*smooch*

3. Boo - he doesn't want broken fingers to go with the broken shoulder! *evil cackle

Yeah, I can't swivel my neck & look behind me very well anymore. Or maybe at all, lol. My range of movement is barely 180'.

1. Can you do a temporary partial car pool with somebody who has parking? Like, park near their house & then ride together?

2. He's a man. He will eat cold pizza.

3. I am very lucky that Tom is never bored. I have never seen him bored; I would not know what to do.

4. Netflix might help with the boredom thing. Internet porn may also help. :)

5. True.

6. Working at home would be a nice way to be companionable and keep track of the hubbie. Still trying to figure out what exactly Tummy means by "one-armed afternoon delights"!!! But then I have a dirty mind at times.

Swami - just so you can have this song stuck in your head too -

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
gonna grab some afternoon delight.
My motto's always been; when it's right, it's right.
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night.
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day.
And you know the night is always gonna be there any way.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
looking forward to a little afternoon delight.
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Good news, he's decided to diet while at home and milk feeling crappy for all it's worth, diet wise. So I stocked up on some healthy, quick foods at the store last night. This actually takes some pressure off me. Woohoo!

Chuck season 1 arrives from Netflix for him today. He came into the series in Season 2, so it's a good time to go back and watch 1.

I'm making him save Dexter until I can watch it with him. We've seen most of Season 1 so far on free Showtime.

Until he's off pain meds, I don't think there will be much afternoon delighting!

I was sad Uncle Chris couldn't go watch niece Paige play freshmen volleyball last night. It was her last home game. Grandpa and I were there to watch, though.

It was fun and very different from when I played volleyball. They have a little clap-dance everytime someone scores, and the girls on the bench do mini-cheers throughout the game. Girls.

What chores can he do while sitting down and using one arm. Oops, that didn't sound right.
