Welcome back to me!

Grilled ham & cheese sammiches on sourdough, in honor of my CA return.

So, hm. Here are all the random thoughts I've been carrying around this week:

More airline rants
I really, really hate when people carry on big bags. It causes so much wasted time getting seated and so many of the rest of us, that try NOT to be a burden, to have to shove everything under the seat and have no foot room.

Seating chart: ABC DEF. I am assigned seat A. They board early, so I am one of the last on. Seat A&B are occupied by two comfortable men reading newspapers, coffee and pastries on their tray tables. I internally pout, but decide to be gracious (I really wanted to sleep by the window since it was a 6 am flight) and take the aisle seat. Then, a couple boards and says we are in their seats (they must have been B&C in our row). So not only are Frick & Frack in the wrong seats, they are on the wrong side of the plane. Cripes.

Another funny story. A man in front of me must have given the flight attendants a gift of See's candy. They wouldn't leave him alone the entire flight. They kept repeatedly saying thank you, offering to bring him drinks and food from first class, which he always declined. I think the poor man must've felt harassed by the end of the flight!

The burrito memory
I ate a Thai burrito from a restaurant in MSP airport. As I was eating it, I was reminded of these chicken teriyaki burritos I used to get SOMEWHERE that I loved. I could not for the life of me figure out where I used to eat those burritos. I could taste them, see them being made, but could not remember the restaurant. It was killing me. During my trip I remembered. It was a college campus food court thing.

The cell phone story
Thursday night we went to dinner at a nice Italian restaurant in Berkeley. It was about 30 minutes from our hotel. So we got back at 10:30 and I scrambled to pack and get to bed, as I needed to be up by 4 a.m. My phone rang. It was my colleague saying she couldn't find her cell and wanted to check the rental car. She got the keys from me and looked. Nothing. I put on a coat over my pjs and looked. Nothing. Called the restaurant. Nothing. She'd last used it on the way to the restaurant, so our only resort was to check if it dropped in the parking lot at the BART station near the restaurant where we parked. Threw on clothes. Drove out & checked. Nothing. By the time we returned it was almost midnight. Yawn.

The next day a gentleman called me (I was the last person to call her phone) and said he found it. Yay! I'm still tired, though.

Random language thought
Someday will we evolve to having more and more common, shared languages, as people tend to be more bilingual, especially in English? So many new slang words are universal. Just a thought as I listened to conversations this week.

Books
I need to update on Good Reads. I've been plowing through a lot of good books.

Cookies!
I'm leaving soon to go bake cookies with my sister and niece.

*ROFLMAO*

Okay, so I'm reading this and I see, "1 comment," and I knew it would be Momma. She has your aras on a tracker.

Believe me, we all missed you. But she really did miss you the mostest. She's been a little cranky lately - you know like how Bravie gets when she hasn't eaten.

I don't understand how an A could be seated last. Idiots. And those idiots who took the wrong seats, well they are super idiots.

I have no idea about Thai burritos.

That sucks about the missing phone. I was thinking that 4 a.m. would have really been like 6 a.m. for you, but then I realized that midnight would have been like 2 or 3 a.m. for you.

I realized that I need to make a stop for one cookie supply item. Sunday will be my baking day. I finish cards on Saturday and make cookies on Sunday.

By the way, I know that you would totally play my guessing game in my blog, but since you're behind in reading, I'll just give you the answer.

I saw Mark Brunell on Monday night at Morton's in Reston.

Ooo, sammiches!

I hate the big bag people too. I usually carry a smaller-than-the-max-allowed bag, and I am amazed that they let people carry on full-sixed suitcases sometimes! I have also had people (including a flight attendant) try to stick stuff under MY seat because all the overheads and everywhere else was full. No way! That space belongs to me!

Lol at the pastrie eating idiots!

A Thai burrito just sounds all wrong. Sometimes fusion food does not appeal to me!

I have not yet made any cookies :(

*hop* I missed you all so much! I am in the office ALLLLLL day today, so I can play a bit!

I'm very happy Boo let me cheat and gave me the answer. I think it's the cooooolest that you saw Mark Brunell AND that you ate at Morton's. :-) Now, if only we could arrange a Troy Aikman sighting for you.

Momma-I sensed you missed me the mostest. :-) Did you get Chris's note about the bucket last night? I need to blog about that today. *smoooooch*

I did, but I think something got lost in translation...

kim (weltek) said...

I told him to say "Is the bucket for all the sh!t she gives me?"

*grin*

I find that if I poot, I can clear an aisle and sit anywhere that I want. :)

kim (weltek) said...

Hm. I will take that strategy under advisement.

In translation, I got "Is the bucket for all the shit I give her?" So when I questioned that, he said "Maybe all the shit you give her, I don't know"

*rolls eyes*

BOYS!

Hooray for you being home! That guy who found and returned the cell phone is a great guy. Good. for. him.

These sammiches sound good, especially since I haven't eaten yet today.

Interesting thought about languages. I did a project on words borrowed from other languages in university. Some languages go in and out of vogue, some are used just because they geographically close. The Japanese are having a ball with English right now. Once upon a time (mid-1800's), French was the language of choice for the Germans. English recently borrowed a bunch from German (angst, schadenfreude, uber-). Language is cool.
