After deciding we didn't need to buy a new dishwasher (although we haven't actually installed the new handle yet. Worst case scenario, we call the Maytag store to send help and pay for an hour of labor), we took the new camera plunge.
We had a really old Sony Cybershot that was ok quality for the time, but technology quickly advanced. I can borrow the nice work camera for fancier stuff, if needed, so we needed a new pocket sized point and shoot. We have no brand loyalty, just wanted good photo quality in enlarged photos, ability to zoom in as much as possible, long battery life, etc. I liked the idea of supporting a U.S. company, though wasn't 100% committed to that.
We ended up with the Kodak M580. Kind of cool "easyshare" features that will let you skip a few steps to upload directly to Facebook, etc. Should arrive tomorrow or Saturday, so my bloggy and FB friends will be regaled with many photos in the near future.

Awesome. I have a Kodak, it's been a great camera.
Looking forward to pics, many, many pics.
*waits for pictures*
New gadgets are fun!!
Yay!
I have a Sony cybershot. It's okay - easy enough for me to use. I need easy.
Michael has some handheld that takes better pictures, but I don't like it. He hated the Sony because sometimes the pictures are blurry.
I personally love the older Canno I bought him about 18 years ago. Back then, it was top of the line and cost me $400 for the camera alone - not including a lens. I still remember saying to the salesman, "I'm goignt ot spend $400 on a camera that won't let me take a picture?" LOL.
Enjoy your new camera.
I will look forward to lots of future photos!
I didn't like my Sony Cybershot either. Our new camera is a Kodak something - or maybe a Canon. I forget which. I have also never really learned to use it. I mean I can point it and click but I haven't bothered to learn how it works to download and edit the pics in Adobe.
Can't wait to see the pics.
I'd like a new camera, but that's in the future. I currently have a Pentax digital, it's okay.
Excellent; good for trips and vacations, too.
