As you may have seen on my Facebook page, we went on a last minute camping trip this weekend. We weren't planning to eat at the site, or even hang out there much (we had day trips planned), so it was pretty bare bones packing. We worked 8-12 on Friday, then took off. I hate being in a rush to pack up and get to work. It's why we almost NEVER leave for any trip right after work. I like the morning to pack, double check, without being stressed.
On the way north, I realized we forgot pillows. That was ok, we could stop and buy cheap pillows.
After the tent was up, we went to grab our clothes and toiletry bags and put them in the tent. Hm. No bags. They were sitting at home, 3 hours away, on our bed. $120 later, we had pillows, clothes, towels, and toiletries. I couldn't really do my hair all weekend, and had no hat. I had to air dry the hair, so I think I may have looked like an unkempt crazy lady for much of the weekend. I did buy a Mr. Owl Tootsie Pop t-shirt because I was in a giggly mood when shopping.
Of note, we also ate here:

You should really click on the menu pdf and read it. You could order a basket of bacon as an appetizer, or even 1.5" x 1.5" cubes of fried cheese. They were huge.
Summer has been great. I've been taking a day off/week to get my homework done. Then I can spend more time with Chris on the weekends. We've had tons of little road trips around WI, exploring parts of the state we've never been. One of my more memorable summers in recent history.

OMG that's hilarious, because I've done the same thing. I am hoping it was cool where you are. Camping here right now would be torture.
I hope you haven't fallen over with shock that I'm here. :D
*thud*
First I die laughing at you. Then I die again from Tummy shock. :)
I have forgotten a lot of things in my day. The worst was forgetting my toothbrush, not realizing it until bedtime and the hotel being out of toothbrushes. When you have no vehicle and no stores around, you're at the mercy of your toothpaste and a washcloth.
I like taking little trips because you continually have something to look forward to. Big vacations come and go quickly.
That's a good way to look at the little trips, Boo. Maybe that's why this feels like such a good summer.
I had a toothbrush in my purse from my last dentist's visit. I now need to restock it, since I of course used it this weekend.
Tuesday's daily special is Rachel? What's a Rachel? (The pdf menu took forever to not open so I abandoned that quest.)
I like camping in 4-star hotels. I will settle for 3, but I am not happy bout it.
Rachel is either waitress that needs a date, or a reuben with turkey instead of corned beef. Take your pick.
Their burgers were amaaaazing. Hand pattied, perfectly cooked, homemade bun that didn't overpower the burger and toppings, and just about any topping you could imagine. And they come with homemade fries or a side of the cheese curds. Chris had jalepeno fries and I had the cheese curds. They had NTN trivia, so we ate at the bar and stuffed our faces with burgers.
