Delicious things

Yumminess is in the air.

  • Special K vanilla and almonds? Gross by itself. Drizzled with a little bit of melted dark chocolate? Delicious.
  • I'm going raspberry picking tonight. This will necessitate making a raspberry balsamic chicken dinner, some raspberry salsa for pork and either a raspberry pie or chocolate raspberry bars this weekend.
  • There is a spicy halibut boil at a restaurant in town on Friday. I should go. Halibut is yummy.
What is your favorite summer food? It's a tie between raspberries, watermelon and corn on the cob for me.

Made some raspberry sherbet the other week.. Yum yum! We're going to Utah this weekend for a week, and will devour as many raspberries near the lake as possible. Especially fresh raspberry shakes.

I got some yummy watermelon recipes yesterday.

Watermelon and cucumbers are my favorite summer foods.

I love raspberries! I have to pick some more from our treeline. We have tons there this year. Yum! My goal is to try to pick enough (and not eat them) to make jam. DS loves my jam. Sadly, I have none that I haven't eaten yet.

Mmm, I love homemade jam! My MIL gave me three bush "runners" that I planted this year. They are growing quickly! Hope to have my own berry stash in a few years.

We picked an ice cream pail full last night. Had the obligatory ice cream and raspberries. I'm trying to decide if I should make a pie for the weekend, given that we'll have no company. I should probably not eat half a pie myself.

Wait-I have neighbors! I'll give them some pie!

1. I will not buy a breakfast cereal that does not include almonds.

2. I have never drizzled melted dark chocolate on cereal. Is that legal?

3. Raspberries, fresh picked & still warm from the sunshine are just divine!

4. I don't understand raspberry pie, but the other ideas - especially salsa - sound perfect!

5. There. Now my list is longer than Boo's.

My favorite summer food is fresh basil. Technically this is a spice not a food, but if you saw how much fresh basil I can put into a salad...

Have you been watching Top Chef Masters, Swami? Gail Greene, meanie food critic, was very skeptical about basic gelato Michael Chiarello made. But she loved it! Maybe you should make some basil gelato. :-)

I love raspberries. I love tomatoes, watermelon, corn on the cob, peaches, bing cherries...pretty much any and all summer food. Except for squash.

I would totally eat half a raspberry pie by myself. I'd probably eat the entire pie. Yes I would.

Summer food is the best...all the fresh fruits and corn. I love BBQ's and we just got a new one, so I'm happy.

One of my favourite summer foods is watermelon and one of my favourite recipes was given to me by you.

Marinated watermelon with herbed cream cheese and brioche. Yummy.

I love garden grown and grilled zuchini.

Love all the veggies I grow. They taste a gajillion times better than store bought.

I'm partial to toasted blueberries :)

Swami - basil is technically an herb but I know what you mean. I love me some basil.

I think I'm going to sprout raspberries from my ears soon. I've eaten more berries than anyone should. I've picked wild assorted berries from our woods for the last few days and have inhaled them...on top of all the other raspberries we picked last week.

P.S. The pie turned out delish.

Bear with me as I've got a weird list of favourite summer foods because it's what I get every year while in cottage country...

1. Frozen Mars Bars. It's got to be frozen for about a half hour or so before I sink my teeth into it. Priceless on a hot day.

2. Weber's Burgers. Second to none and it's the holy grail for Muskoka cottage country people.

3. Blueberry pancakes - blueberries is 'in-season' right around the same time I'm up north, so it's always a nice treat to pick up some fresh stuff.

4. The Pop Shoppe. Root beer, pineapple, lime, cherry cola, and a bunch of great, inventive flavours.

5. Freezies.

6. Ice cream from the tuck shop - I just had a Reeses peanut butter cup cone yesterday and a Creamsicle the day before. Yum! Pene had a Moose Tracks ice cream yesterday.
