I had a good Christmas. On Christmas Eve my family gathers at my sister's house. It's usually about 4-5 hours of food, drink, gifts and merriment. A nice time had by all. My 3 rampaging nephews even loved their gifts from us this year. That was a nice feeling.
Christmas Eve we then headed to BIL's for Christmas with MIL. MIL is truly nuts. She tries to pretend she can be laid back and do "whatever" (this is a favorite word of hers), but it's really "whatever as long as it conforms to what I want." Pictures of her annual weirdo gifts are forthcoming. Also pics of my new tats. (by "my" I mean my stand mixer's) :-)
We had a few days at home and various outings with friends we don't see often. That's always a nice part of the holidays.
Chris got me fun gifts. Well, one was a nice new coffee pot (which was really a "household" thing, but I was making due with a crappy old $20 model after our Starbuck's brand one died). It has frontal access for water, so no need to move it out from under the cabinet to fill.

Next I got my favorite thing, an espresso/cappucino maker:

And a JCP gift card. I was whining about needing new shoes, but bought them out of necessity last week, so now I can find something else to buy!
EDITED TO ADD: Well, really I edited to fix the spacing, but I want to add that I think I'm going to chop my hair off. It needs a fresh start. This decision helped by Boo's snappy new do.

Hmmm, I like that coffee pot. Maybe I will get one like that with my Christmas money.
Ick. Coffee is gross. *grin*
You got a tat of a standing mixer!?!
Mr. Swami uses a French Press for his morning coffees, but I like weaker coffe so I am quite happy with instant.
My MIL used to give us cheapo, weird-shit gifts too - until the FIL passed away. Then she started to give everyone money, which is a much nicer gift.
Tom got me a laptop. That was my only "big" gift.
Just remember - it's nice to have enough hair to cover your ears and neck during winter!
Where in Tx were you? I had to come check in with everyone. Glad to hear your are doing well.
*snort* Nope, my stand mixer itself got some "tats." :-)
Hi Sonya! I was in Longview. Lots of wide roads and shopping.
Merry Christmas, Kim. It sounds like you had a nice one.
Coffee much?
Sounds like your holiday went pretty okay, even with the crazy MIL. I think they must grow them on trees, or something. There's a small village somewhere in the world that has fields of crazy MIL trees. They ripen on the trees through summer, then they are harvested in the late fall in order to be just right for the holidays.
Interesting about the MIL. I'm glad the rest went well. And yay for the nephews.
I am thinking about getting new coffee machine for the office. I might need to accidentally "drop" this one. *grin*
Cut your hair! Cut your hair! Just remember, it's maintenance. Mine actually needs to be cut again now, and I have one week to go until my appointment. Six weeks doesn't work for my new snappy style.
Nice new appliances. Smart that you can add water from the front.
I like MC's definition of MIL's.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, Kim! I love new coffee machines. My newest one is a Keurig and I LURVE it more than life itself! :-)
Cut your hair! Do it!
*throws confetti*
Hey kim! I just joined blogland, so hope it's OK for me to add you to my stalking list?
I'm majorly jealous of your new cappuccino maker - I'm cutting back big time on my trips to Starbucks and The Second Cup (our Can'tadian version of Starbucks) with the economy being what it is, so these days I've been using the Magic Blender to make my lattes. It's not the same taste though, using a cappuccino maker is so much better.
Sounds like you had a great Christmas!
