Catch up

String cheese for a fun Friday.

I was out of the office all week with various activities. Monday and Friday I was doing fieldwork for a research project. Tuesday and Wednesday I was babysitting my nephews. 7-10-13. A deadly combination. The food issues were driving me crazy. Due somewhat to the oldest's Aspergers and more to being raised with no limits/rules about food, they all won't eat the same thing. I've tried to force them when I babysit them at their house in the past, and you know what? One or two days isn't going to change them and it's hell for all of us. So I just tried to be more relaxed about it this time and do as well as I could.

Breakfast day one: N-cereal, B-Pop Tart, M-cinnamon toast
Lunch day one: N-canned fruit and toast, B-easy mac, M-grilled cheese
Dinner day one: N & B-spaghetti (yay, two at the same thing!), M-grilled cheese
Breakfast day two: N-waffles, B-scrambled eggs, M-strawberries and toast
Lunch day two (mcdonalds): N-fries and apple dippers, B-nugget happy meal, M-cheeseburger happy meal.

I always had cut up fruit around, but other than the one eating strawberries, there was no interest. I limited their snacks severely, thinking that would force them to eat meals better. Not really.

In other news, I had a McDonald's fish sandwich, no cheese. I hadn't had one in about 20 years, and I won't be having one again. Blech.

This weekend? Brewing beer for Chris, spring cleaning for me.

Glad you survived.

I don't think I've ever had a McD's fish sandwich. And I haven't even eaten there in at least five years. I have a feeling my body would violently reject any McD's food if I was to eat it now.

*sits with Meemo*

I had a Big Mac a year or so ago, and it wasn't pretty later. I really haven't eaten anything else from there since 1997.

You missed the kids' eating discussion (and lecture) while you were out. You're right, 2 days doesn't change them.

I used to love McD's fish sandwich, but the last one I had was dry and tasted off.

I say, go with the flow with other people's kids. No reason to stress yourself out about it, as long as they eat.

I plan on doing some decluttering this weekend.

Poor you. Prepping 3 meals for 4 people a day must have been a joy.

McDonald's is gross. That is all.

No fish sandwiches here - blech. I do enjoy the double cheeseburger for $1 - quick lunch when I need some protein.. if you can call it that! Heh!

You are a good aunt for tending the boys! Yep, just relax! (coming from the controlling mom over here..)

I have tomorrow all to myself. I will read all day long. Yay.

I had McDonald's last week for the first time in a long time. It is nothing like to used to be. *barf*

Like others have said, just go with the flow for a short stint with other people's kids.

Looks like M is a bread eater and B is a pasta kid, but they eat simple foods. Not hard to prepare several dishes. And everyone eating something different for breakfast seems entirely normal to me.

If you serve other meals family style, with passing entrees around, then that's what makes it a family meal. With kids that age I would focus on the whole social eating thing more than the food itself.

I eat McD's chicken nuggets a couple of times a year. That's all that appeals to me. Well, I do like their nasty, greasy sausage biscuits but I never eat breakfast out - so there.
